We recently spent two very enjoyable nights in the Mountain View yurt with another couple. Our yurt was most comfortable and well-appointed with everything we needed. Was even more attractive than the online photos.
Our intention was not to engage in fly fishing as much as to just enjoy the peace and quiet of Madison County. The sound of the river/stream babbling/rippling; the sight of the black Angus grazing and drinking wine around the outdoor fire under the dark, star-filled VA sky was just the relaxation we were looking for. We read, walked, drove to Little Washington for lunch and wine-tasting...all good!
If and when our NV-living fly-fishing son finds the love-of-his-life we think renting all of the Rose River Farm yurts for a guys outing before the wedding would be perfect!
Like everyone says, we too had a great weekend at the pond yurt on RRF. First timers and will def return. Trout fishing was impeccable and Gary was an excellent - and I do mean EXCELLENT- guide and a friendly fellow. Monarch butterflies were in migration with 1-2 passing the cabin every 2-3 minutes. Awesome. Happy with everything.

We just finished up a lovely fall weekend at one of these cabins and are already planning to return next year. Our cabin was neat, clean, and stocked with all of the essentials--the owners really have thought of everything! Our kids loved running around the pond, and we barbecued on the provided grill and had a fire in the fire pit on the patio. It was a short trip to go hiking in the national park and to go to the nearby apple festival. So incredibly beautiful. We can't recommend more highly!
We spent one Friday night when traveling to beach. Cabin was so very comfortable, every thing was provided down to the whole bean coffee and coffee grinder. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, grilling burgers, making fire and star gazing. It's s beautiful, very scenic area with views of the mountain. Next time we will go for a full weekend.
We used the Mountain View yurt as a hub to visit Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns for a week. We have two little ones and Douglas suggested this yurt in particular for the huge meadow right outside the door. What a great way to finish our days running in the meadow during sunset. The property has a well appointed kitchen. Just bring your spices and groceries. We had a minor issue that was taken care of in less than 24 hrs by the wonderful Earl who maintains the farm. Our kids loved his friendly dog who respectfully stayed in the truck until we asked to meet him. Doug was very responsive to any questions we had and even suggested a hike to us. Thank you for making our trip to Shenandoah a great one.
The yurt-style cabin is roomy and comfy and clean. Very peaceful with thoughtful amenities and decor. Loved watching the sunset over the mountain reflected on the pond.
