We just got back from Fairy Stone yesterday after a 4 night stay....it was only supposed to be 3 nights, but we were having so much fun we stayed an extra night. We have a pop up camper, 3 children (6, 5, & 2) and 2 dogs. It was a great experience for everyone!
The park is beautiful....green and very shaded
The lake has a nice sandy beach and fun "toys" for the kiddos
There is wi-fi at the lake
There is a snack shack at the lake and a small "store" near the campground
Firewood is available at $4 per bundle....you can also buy ice!!
Bath houses at campground were very clean and always stocked
Bathrooms at lake very generally clean & there are lots of changing stalls
Electric hook ups were great (worked as they should)
Rangers were nice and friendly
Quiet campground....no loud music, no riff raff
Blow ups, water noodles and floatys are allowed at lake....sun canopies and umbrellas as well
Campsites are VERY close together
Some of the sites have a steep edge (cliff) right next to it
Only one bathhouse at the campground....if it's a busy weekend it can be hard to shower
LOTS of bugs (including ticks)! We have many bites!! Bring bug spray.
Drinking water tasted bad....either bring something to filter it or bring bottled water.
RACCOONS! They visited us every night and got very close! Expect to put anything edible away every night....one stole an entire bag of marshmallows 5 feet away from us!
Campground is not great for bike riding....steep hills
Lake water is murky and stained our bathing suits brown and it was very cold in early June
Not much nearby.....plan on staying at the park
NO cell service
wi-fi was spotty at the beach
Overall, all the pros outweigh the cons. Just make sure that you plan ahead and are aware of some of the cons. We had a great time and plan to visit again in the future!!
