I am still rating this place 4 stars as the food was very good. Service was rushed; our entree was delivered within a minute of our soup. This was our second visit and we will be back when traveling from NY to FL. My husband loves the sampler platter and I tried the pork roulade which was great. There was only one server when we were there on a late Sunday afternoon and he was overworked.

This was our second visit, and we greatly enjoyed our meals during both visits. We dined on a Thursday night. We both had one of the two specials which was ground pork rolled with a cabbage leaf. The seasoning was perfect and the creamy sauce was very tasty. It was a generous serving (so much that we could not try the desserts). We thought the vegetables were just average, but the bread was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful. The restaurant has several German beers on draft. The meal was so good that we definitely will visit again when we are in the area.

despite having read a number of poor reviews for this restaurant, we decided to try it as we were staying in the nearby KOA campsite and it was the only restaurant close by. We should have stayed at home. It was a Tuesday night and we arrived at 7.30 pm. There were a total of 5other diners when we arrived so not a great deal of pressure on the sole server.
We ordered Weiner Schnitzel and tried to order French Fries to go with them. We were told categorically that Fries were not available despite the fact that they appeared on the childrens menu.We were told that it was "family style" and that all main courses cam with Red Cabbage, Saurkraut, and green beans. we did not order appetisers. The main courses arrived and to be fair the Schnitzel was fine, with crisp breadcrumb coating and lean tender pork. the vegetables were inedible! Both the green beans and the red cabbage had been cooked into oblivion, and the noodles were completely tasteless and way overcooked.

We are from the UK and have travelled extensively throughout Germany for many years, every restaurant in Germany even the most expensive offer French Fries or Saute potatoes and would have been ashamed to serve up vegetables in this condition. the service was more suited to a Diner and the final bill for 73.00 dollars was over priced for the food we received.

I live in Germany and what they sell is OK at best. The pretzels are nothing like you have in Germany and the ones I got to taste were dry and hard. I agree with the previous reviewer who is commenting on the small side portions and the poor quality of the overall dish. Weisswurst and Bratwurst are a safe bet but you still get the side dishes that do not taste like much with it and can probably find a better tasting sausage in any Delikatessen store (Whole Foods or other).

Stay away from the desserts, they are horrible and , again, have little in common with the typical German desserts. One exception is the Grape Tart (Traubenkuchen), which is pretty good.

Overall, nice ambiance but the value is not there. If you REALLY want authentic German food, try the BAVARIAN CHEF in Madison, VA on US 29. It is just a bit pricer than Edelweiss but you get a whole lot more value, better service, nicer decor and the real deal!

We found this charming little place in a hotel booklet. We really like German food so made a point to visit during our visit.

OMG OMG OMG! The food was just out of this world. All homemade, by the chef/owner who is from Germany. The sdie dishes that accompany your dinner are served family style, and there was plenty to go around. My wife who doesn't really like cabbage couldn't get enough of the red cabbage or the other cabbage dish.

If you aren't sure what you may like, I do reccomend the sampler ... it was a bit of 5 different dishes and I fought through at the end to finish :) ... they were all great.

We didn't have room for dessert, but got some to enjoy later, the apple crumble was great and the apple custard was excellent.
