The restaurant is located in historic downtown Staunton and operates in the former railroad freight station. Service was very attentive. My wife and I had the evening special of fresh rainbow trout with lemon cream sauce, grits and spaghetti squash. Everything was very fresh and tasty.
The restaurant is very popular for dinner, especially on weekends. Plan to eat early or expect to wait. Limited parking is available at the restaurant. Public parking is nearby and is free after 5:00 and on weekends.

Ordered prime rib and no au jus and was cooked like a well done steak. Veggies were hard and had no flavor at all. Was very disappointed and will not be returning and have told others of our expierience here. Do not see what all the hype is about. Its just an old train station... really! PS after the crappy food you can't even disguise it with a good shot! Never again! You want a nice meal I suggest you walk to the other end of the train tracks to Milll Street Grill =-)

The Depot Grille is in a converted train station - it looks very authentic inside! We visited for lunch on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. We walked in and were seated promptly without reservations.

They were busy - it appears this might be a popular "after church" lunch spot. A number of older couples who came in appeared dressed for church.

We both had salads - both were excellent and quite filling. The bread is wonderful!

We ate here the night we arrived in Staunton. It was within walking distance of our hotel and we had read the reviews on here and wanted to try it. Very cool atmosphere, being an old train station. The food was very good and our waiter was great. He definitely made the evening. Great sense of humor, made us laugh a lot. Would definitely recommend it!

My wife & I ate here on Feb. 13, 2010 for Valentines day. Was told 60 to 70 minute wait. They seated us in 30 minutes. We had the Prime Rib dinner for 2. This was one huge chunk of beef. Some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten. The shrimp cocktail was great. And the only thing better than the rolls, is the butter! Finally for desert, we shared a vanilla bean creme brulee topped with strawberries & blueberries, that I might actually kill for. Well, not really. But it was oh so good. As to the service? Our waitress Erin, was very attentive. Which was no easy feat, considering how busy they were. I look forward to returning often.
