“It's "Hometown" Good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2014

Adjacent to the Red Roof Inn where we were staying during a recent trip to Staunton, Virginia, this eatery offers good food, a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, and reasonable prices. I ordered the 8oz Sirloin and baked potato; my companion ordered the chicken strips. Both were substantial and satisfying. Even though we ordered off the menu, as opposed to opting for the buffet, we were still allowed a trip to the soup/salad/fruit portion of the buffet. We were even invited to visit the ice cream station, although we did not take advantage of this invitation, as the rest of the meal was plentiful. I would recommend this restaurant to any hungry, road-weary traveler passing through northern Virginia.

“Very good breakfast buffet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013

We felt the breakfast buffet was even better than when this was a Shoney's. The grits were fluffy. The bacon was crisp. The men in the family liked the selection of gravies to go on the biscuits. I liked that the fruit was fresh and very flavorful. (The last time I ate at Shoney's buffet, it was canned peaches and pineapple. Yuck) There was a nice variety of food. The french toast sticks, hash brown casserole and coffee also were very good. The only complaint was the eggs with mushrooms, peppers and onions were cold and rubbery. However, the regular scrambled eggs were fine for buffet eggs. We like to support local businesses and will return.

“Very good for value and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2013

We were staying in the motel right next door and didn't want to drive so being so close we decided to give the place a go. During our trip we are trying to eat at no-chain places so this also ticked that box. The buffet was excellent value at $9.99 including soups, salads, meat, vegetable, pop-corn shrimp and desserts. The fish and chips ($8.99) also included unlimited buffet trips for salad, soup and desserts. For 3 people we paid little over $30 including soft drinks (no alcohol is served here) so you just can not complain about the value...the fish and chips were very nice, the food on the buffet was good quality for a buffet. The service was good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It's not a fine dining experience but we didn't expect it to be as good as it turned out.

“Pleasant surprise for home cooking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2013

We ate here as part of a tour group. I admit I wasn't excited to eat a buffet meal. I was very pleasantly surprised. The home baked rolls are fabulous and the food quality, for a buffet, was excellent. The buffet (which consists of salads and vegetables) is included with each entree. The entree is really not needed. The entire meal was around $12. Very good value for the money.

“Good Non-Chain Restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

I think this restaurant is a hidden gem. The chef/cook makes it sparkle. I enjoyed perfectly cooked uniquely seasoned catfish. Added was a wonderfully flavored medley of fresh vegetables which were seasoned and steamed to perfection. Breakfast eggs were cooked exactly as ordered. Not many restaurants serve real fried ham these days but this one does. Very delightful in all.
