There is a guided tour of Wilson's birthplace. It was informative. The house is very nice and in excellent condition. They have guiding tour group around the premises down to a science. The house is next to the library. The library and museum is small but nicely done. This is a self guided tour. Everything you would to know about Wilson and his family is presented. Downstairs is a WWI trench and information about that war. There is also his beautifully restored car. It takes about 2 hours if you read everything.

I'm not sure I've ever run across better written (and still accessible) captions: they're brief but consistently informative and interesting. I suppose one could say that they could make more of the moral contradictions in Wilson's life--great on matters of peace, lousy on matters of race--but it would be hard to go through the museum without arriving at a sense of those tensions, and in a way it's more respectful of visitors to let them sort those matters out. The stories of the museum's origins are themselves interesting.

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library is not part of the National Presidential Library System so it does not get the attention of other presidential libraries. Therefore it can be overlooked. However those who overlook the WWPL are missing out on a grand experience. The Museum is part of a complex of building that include President Wilson's birthplace and a research facility. Located in the heart of the Shenadoah Valley in Staunton, Va the library is very accessable and near other site of interest. Plan on taking about 2 hours to vist the home and the museum and then have lunch in one of the many fine dinning establishments within a short walk of the library. I highly recommend this museum and in particular the WWI trench exhibit. The only other place you might see something like this is the National WWI Museum in Kansas City.

Concise but revealing biography and museum on one of our lesser known Presidents. Very well presented. Shows that the issues in 2012 are almost the same as in 1912 (e.g. immigration, economic conflict, threat of war). Definitely worth seeing.

Unlike Woodrow Wilson's Birthplace, the museum felt like a much more authentic experience. It is full of personal artifacts, political propanganda, and family pieces. The museum did an excellent job of painting a thorough picture of Woodrow Wilson- his family, his views on education, his political affiliations, etc. You could also even hear recordings of his actual speeches, which was very neat. The museum also has Wilson's Presidential Limousine, which has been nicely restored. There was also a WWI exhibit in the basement that had a recreation of a WWI trench. If you visit the museum, make sure to leave enough time to really explore and read all of the rich information they have on Woodrow Wilson.
