My husband and I tried Ubon based on a friend's recommendation and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was quirky, the menu varied but not overwhelming, the service quick, and food excellent. The owner waited on us and while she was chatty, she was fascinating and very sweet. My husband loved his dish and I loved my drunken noodles with Thai tea. We split some dumplings as an appetizer and they were delicious also. Try it yourself, you won't be disappointed.

We stumbled upon Ubon Thai for dinner. It was hard to find the correct entrance and we wondered whether it was open because there was only one other couple and one employee in the restaurant. The employee--the chef--told us that the owner wasn't there yet and he was alone, so we could sit and wait but the service might be slow. We waited since we weren't in a hurry and he hustled around like we couldn't believe! Another party (of 6) arrived shortly and he waited on them quickly as well. By the time the owner and another server arrived, the chef had taken drink and dinner orders for the three tables, served us some appetizers and kept the mood very light.

The food was very good (Pad Thai and drunken noodles), but the service actually declined a bit when the full staff was there. I almost wish the chef would have continued to serve us! Great experience overall and we'll certainly visit again if we're in town!

We had a light lunch ( fish cakes, chicken strips) on Saturday that was our first experience with Thai food. Delicious! On Sunday am had a Thai breakfast that was interesting when compared to a "standard" American meal, and ,again, delicious. Ubon was very personable and helpful about Thai cusine. Fresh food well prepared!!

In 30 years of enjoying Thai cuisine, we have never had such a bad meal. Satays were not satays. Thai seasonsing and salads, were not like the Thai cooking that we have enjoyed in the US and in Thailand.. Waitress was chirpy and inept - wrong order delivered, included wrong items on bill, brought check before requested or inquiring if we might want desert. The decor is cluttered with memorabilia, hardly an inch of walls space not covered - yes it could characterized as colorful and quirky. If the positive reviews were accurate for those meals, we suffered a terribly off night. Could never recommend it or give it another try.

This is the best and freshest Thai food I have had, and we eat Thai on a fairly regular basis. Ingredients are fresh. We arrived to stay at the inn a little late in the evening but were able to eat in the restaurant, open til 10pm. One of Ubon's elderly male relatives (maybe father or uncle) helped wait our table and is quite adorable. Highly recommend.
