Old-fashioned diner recommended to us by a local. The food was okay but the barbecue was not made in house. Pea salad was great. Burger was good. Price was fantastic but be aware they don't take credit cards! There is an ATM down the road they will direct you too. Overall a decent place for a fast unpretentious lunch.

We had the opportunity to eat dinner at the Hawksbill Diner twice during our stay in Stanley. The diner is decorated with family pictures and local memorabilia. The waitresses and hostesses are friendly and attentive. The menu is varied. Members of our family enjoyed the Barbecue sandwich, the Bacon Cheese Burger, the Tuna Hoagie and the Fried chicken. A variety of sides are offered daily. The vegetable soup has a flavorful broth and is filled with meat and vegetables. The rice pudding is also very good. Don't miss the Ice Cream Cake consisting of ice cream sandwiches and fudge frozen together. Mmm. The Liver and Onions was described as being in the freezer too long and the mashed potatoes are not homemade. The pies are from Chef Pierre. Overall a good enough experience that we returned a second time. You cannot beat the price.

The breakfast served here is one of the best in town! We drove here from Luray every morning during our vacation to get breakfast. Serving staff is really friendly, the prices are great, and their orange juice is freshly squeezed. It's cash only, but that shouldn't stop you from eating at this local hidden gem in the mountains.

This is the best place for breakfast. It is in its own time zone, even whilst waiting for your meal you can soak in the Americana of an era way back. The staff are very amiable and the food is good, eggs are the freshest I have ever eaten. Hope this diner stays the same as it is at the moment.
