“Practical for a trip to Quantico”
Reviewed January 29, 2012

It would seem to us the reason many would be interested in visiting Quantico is for TBS ( THe Basic School) from the US aArine Corp base in Quantico. This is a great place to stay for several reasons. If your family member has been at TBS, and you are going in for the graduation ceremony, you will want a place close to the base and access to restaurants and other amenities. You may also need the convenience of a multiple room hotel as our son was able to stay with us the entire time as they are trying to turn over the rooms they have been assigned for the new incoming class of officers.

We reserved a two bedroom unit and it worked well for the three days we were in town. The units are practical and efficient. There is just one bathroom but the set up with a separate area of sink works well for getting ready in the morning. THe kitchen area has a full size refrigerator, ample coffee supply and other items along with the more than continental breakfast at the hotel was just what we needed for our stay.

If you are packing someone up for their next move from TBS- we highly recommend the location as there is a Pack N Ship in the strip mall across the street. We found the owner to be extremely helpful in shipping the additional boxes that wouldn't fit in the car and we have never had such great customer service in our lives for this type of service. He even gave us the boxes and tape without paying for them and told us to just come back when we knew how many we needed and he would take the other items back- which he did. Thank you!

Room Tip: The two bedrooms are at the end of the hallway and very quiet if you need a room this size.

My family of four shared a 2 bedroom suite with my in-laws for an early Thanksgiving with relatives in the area. The full size fridge in-room kitchen made preparing and storing my "contribution" to the meal neat and easy. Everything was clean and fairly new. We had a quiet stay with awesome beds and the convenience of being near shopping and I-95. Overall, even better than expected.

Room Tip: Two bedroom rooms are at either end of the hotel, making it a little further from the central elevat...

I have stayed in this hotel several times since moving from NY to NC and has become my regular stopover when traveling back up north to visit friends. It is always clean and comfortable, is ideally located since it is minutes from I-95, and yet I feel totally safe given its location on a hill above the main road. The staff is always welcoming andI have never had to wait for a room whether I arrived earlier or later than anticipated. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Since I usually arrive at night, a view is not important to me, but I generally request a room on a...

We stayed here for one night while visiting the National Museum of the Marine Corp. Several years ago when we visited Quantico, we stayed at a hotel in the Triangle area and knew what those were like -- not again! So, after reading the reviews on TA - the Towne Place Suites in Stafford sounded pretty good. What a great choice. It's a new hotel property -- thus very clean and updated. It is a "pet friendly" property, so I put a note on our reservation requesting a "pet-free" room since I am allergic to cats and dogs. Upon check-in, the receptionist was very friendly and immediately saw the note and went to work finding a "pet-free" room for us. The room was a 1 bedroom queen suite that included a mini-kitchenette (refrigerator, cooktop, coffee pot, dishwasher, sink, microwave) a very nice "office" area where you could put a laptop, briefcase, etc. in case you needed to do some work. The queen bed was very comfortable and the sheets/linens had a quality feel. Bathroom was an adequate sized. The room also has a nice comfy side chair with ottoman. A free breakfast is included with typical continental type setup, including a waffle maker and coffee is availale 24 hours. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would enjoy staying here again.

My wife and I stayed here on our way up to NJ for a wedding. We had our 1 year old with us in a pack n play. While there's not a ton of space to maneuver with a pack-n-play, it was spacious enough. The kitchenette was well stocked with coffee, a cold fridge, a microwave (with free bag of popcorn!), and plenty of utensils.

We used Marriot points for the room. It was in the 10,000 points per night group and well worth it for what you get.

Pros: Clean. Friendly staff. Breakfast isn't fancy but offers a good amount of options and is included. Close to Ikea (~13 miles) and DC.

Cons: While the soundproofing between rooms is great, the ceiling soundproofing isn't that great. The hallway felt and sounded a bit "bouncy" and we could hear our upstairs neighbor walking very early around in the morning.

Overall, the hotel was very clean and I would definitely stay here again.

Basic no frills but clean and quiet. Good value for price... a bit removed from nearby retail and restaurants (not within walking distance). Painfully slow Internet - obviously still having trouble imposing Marriott's corporate wide no smoking policy - not bad but noticeable in some common areas of the hotel - sign posted at front door say no smoking within 25 feet of door but this is obviously not observed especially since their is an ashtray/trashcan right outside the door. Having said all of this... would still stay here as the nearby competition is old and tired.

I stayed for the three nights and was pleasantly surprised. I chose it because of the proximity to the highway and Quantico. The hotel is on Jefferson Davis Highway so there is a lot of stores and restaurants very close (CVS, Target, Panera, Ruby Tuesdays, Movie Theaters, etc.). I arrived well before the check in time and was allowed to check in early. I had booked a standard king but as a frequent Marriott traveler, I was upgraded to the two bedroom suite! The suite was excellent. It included a great kitchen (full refrigerator and stove plus it had dishes, silverware, etc.), a living area, two part bathroom and two bedrooms (each with queen beds). The rooms were updated and clean.
