“Nice park away from city hustle and bustle.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

Nice quiet area for a run, walk, hike around the lake. Haven't used the facilities yet, so I can't rate them.

“Serenity at its' Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Open year-round, Lake Accotink has many additional attractions available in the warmer months. A working antique carousel, boat rentals, miniature golf, classes/activities (sponsored by Fairfax County) for all ages, and several dog-friendly events.

Aside from that, there are several well-maintained trails within the Park, that are available to walkers and bikers throughout the year ... free of charge. However, be advised that this IS a dog-friendly Park AND neighborhood. All leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome accompanied by their people. Folks who are allergic to or not comfortable around dogs might want to choose another Park to visit.

This is a wonderful place to just wander around, listen to the birds and enjoy the view any day. June though August there are free concerts, Friday evenings, at the Large Pavilion. Open grills and picnic tables are available, year-round, free of charge. Covered pavilions, with tables and grills are also available for rent by advance reservation, only.

Free parking, except during Springfield Days' Cardboard Boat event. Open till dusk year-round.

“Small carousel”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Carousel is fun for small children. There's a putt-putt course integrated with the carousel too.
Lake Accotink is a small lake but you can rent a canoe or row boat or a paddle boat.
It has a nice roughly 3.5 mile trail around the lake.
Part of the trail leaves the park and you have to up the sidewalk past an elementary school and then back to the trail but it's a good trail.
It's a good bike ride.
There are other trails too if you want to go far.

“A Lovely Local Haven”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Lake Accotink Park is part of the extensive and varied Fairfax County Park system. My grandchildren live in the Cardinal Forest area which has trail access to this wonderful local park. After extensive work on the lake last year it's fully functional for kyaking and canoeing. They also rent those paddle boats. Marina area can get noisy since the adjacent pavilion areas are regularly rented out for family celebrations. This is most notable on the week-ends. There is a sandy beach at the lakefront next to the carosel. The carosel has the old-time painted horses and is most fun. Fishing is allowed on the lake and in the spring they have stocked trout fishing! Just a fun place to take the kids.

Every June they have a cardboard boat rigatta here in conjunction with Springfield Days Celebration. Don't miss it!
