Description: El Quijote features traditional Spanish cuisine, tapas, paella, delicious homemade sangria and desserts. The restaurant ambiance is warm, colorful and very inviting. It is a great place to socialize with family and friends. The owner is a seasoned restaurateur with a well-deserved reputation for excellence. Besides growing up in the kitchen of his family's restaurant in Spain, he holds a Culinary Arts Diploma from the New York Institute of Culinary Education. His previous restaurant in Miami won "Best Spanish Restaurant" in the New Miami Times in 2013.

This is a new and quite excellent Spanish tapas restaurant in booming Rappahannock County VA. The chef is from Spain and really knows his ingredients, many of which, our waiter informed us, come all the way from that country, including the divine mussels which are from Galacia. We stuck with the tapas part of the menu which is quite varied with both hot and cold dishes but there are also many full meals from the large menu selection. We chose 5 tapas [the mussels, marinated shrimp, fried goat cheese balls, a delicious potato salad with olive and asparagus wrapped with smoked salmon]. Desserts required discipline - we had the milles feuilles with strawberries and cream which, though a large portion, was very light.

Service could be a bit more polished [they need to figure out the plate issue - when to bring a fresh one, when to removed used ones, etc -] but this is a young new restaurant and the kinks will get worked out.

Highly recommend!

The jurors for the Piedmont Virginian Artist Showcase dined at El Quijote for lunch on Friday. The seafood medely Chef Andreas prepared was delicious! I recommend Lubina a la Kosqera con Huevo Poche which is the
sea bass filet made with shrimp, mussels, poached egg, asparagus, green peas, parsley and white wine served with white asparagus. It was delicious!!

We have been waiting for a new restaurant to open here for a long time, and it appears it's going to be worth the wait. We were not aware of the opening, and had reservations at another restaurant, so we had a drink. Although my cocktail and my husband's Spanish beer was very good, we were shocked at the $14 charge for less than 12 ounces of beer! $35 (with tip) for 2 drinks is steep, in my opinion, anywhere! The menu is reasonably priced and we will definitely go back to try the food, however I'm not sure we will be ordering adult beverages unless they adjust their prices. We have heard VERY good feedback regarding the authenticity and quality of their food, so looking forward to the experience.

Today's lunch at El Quijote brought a pleasant aftertaste and good memories of our visit to Spain last Fall. The menu offers a rich choice of dishes for every taste. Among the five tapas we tried, three stood out as particularly delicious: the Montaditos de Morcilla, the Mejilones all Jerez, and the Chorizo al Porto. We had not counted on the portions, which seemed even more generous than in Spain! Nevertheless, we still indulged in the yummy desserts... No worry, one can take are of digestion by a stroll through the beautiful creations in the galleries of River Disrtrict Arts next door--or, perhaps, a more vigorous walk through the gorgeous Blue Ridge area of Sperryville! We will be back, and we will keep in mind that paellas need to be ordered 45 minutes in advance.
