We had a great stay as we prepared to drive the parkway. Sherri and Kevin are a very nice couple, working hard and enjoying it. It shows. They even shared their Wasmund's Single Malt and we sipped it on the veranda (see pic) without having to open the bottle we bought at the distillery nearby.

Room Tip: We liked the one we chose, 'The Sage' and would choose it again.

We read all the great reviews and decided to take a chance! Glad we did - what a great Labor Day weekend we had! This was our first B&B experience - so we really didnt know what to expect. But, Hopkins was a great place - quaint, comfortable, 'home-y' and very clean. Kevin and Sherri are fantastic innkeepers and gracious hosts!
We stayed in the Thyme room - very comfortable, very clean - private bathrooms in all the rooms. Our room even had a small private deck out the back - small but usable. The front porch with the swings is a great place to hang out and relax - easy access to the refrigerator that is available for guests to use for food and drinks. Right across the street is a great restaurant - reasonably priced, good food - a market which is great for on the go foods or beverages - and the pizza parlor, which we bought a pie and took to the front porch to eat and relax! All other area dining you do need to drive to - and reservations are recommended as eateries are limited!
Sherri and Kevin are great hosts - they are knowledgeable about the area, great with directions and suggestions for site seeing, hiking or wine tasting. But their combined cooking skills are the best part of the B&B! Sherri's famous french toast definately stood up to all the rave reviews, but I have to say that Kevin's shrimp and goat cheese omelet was right up there - kind of hard to say which was my favorite! And of course the afternoon cookies were as good as everyone says! We were lucky - there for 3 days - so got 3 different homemade breakfast meals and 3 different cookie recipes - I got my favorite recipe to take home and try to duplicate!
Hopkins is really convenient to the Thorton Gap entrance to Skyline Drive, not too far to Luray caverns, and lots of area wineries to explore. Just down the street- a short walk - is the local Copper Fox whiskey distillery - which is must see, even if you dont drink!
We would definately recommend Hopkins Ordinary to family and friends! We hope to get back there soon - would be a beautiful area in the fall!

Room Tip: If your early risers would suggest the Rosemary room for private entrance and porch - we were afraid...

Sherri and Kevin truly make you feel at home in their gorgeous and tastefully decorated B&B. Sherri welcome us with a pint of Kevin's home-brewed beer, showed us to the Rosemary room (spacious, comfortable) and left us to lounge on the wrap-around porch. Breakfast include local produce - both from the area and from their garden. Omelets with homemade goat cheese and garden-grown Swiss chard. Upon departure, Sherri presented us with coupons and discounts to local wineries. Fabulous weekend.

Room Tip: Rosemary room is great, spacious bathroom as it is appointed handicapped accessible

This was our second time at Hopkins and it was just as good as our first. You won't find a better B&B in Virginia, I guarantee it. We love Sherri and Kevin ad consider them friends now. I've never seen innkeepers who go so far out of their way to be so helpful and friendly. The breakfast is always great and tailored to your tastes. The rooms are spacious and clean. Nothing bad to say about our favorite place. Can't wait to go for a cooking course!!

This is the perfect escape from a busy life. Brand new remodeled rooms offer comfort and include air-conditioning and heating. Everything is new in this over 100 year home. Two story wrap around porches offer perfect reading places. There is only three restaurants in town but that is all you need. Take a day hike through the Shenandoah national park and reconnect with your loved one. Amazing, will defiantly come back. You will be pleasantly surprised. This little town offers alot, all you have to do is ask and Sherri and Kevin will plan as much of your trip for you as you want. They are amazing as well and you can tell they love what they do.

Room Tip: Order a large pizza for lunch and snack on it all day from the pizzeria located right across the str...

We had a delightful three day stay in July while we attended three days of performances at the nearby Castleton Festival. We have been passing through Sperryville for 40 years, and have always admired this property. Kevin and Sherri have done a wonderful job remodeling and maintaining this wonderful historic property. Everything was impeccably clean. We stayed in the Thyme room, which has wonderful morning sun and a cozy small back porch. The bed was excellent, and we enjoyed three nights of sleeping with the windows open and no air conditioning - a nice change from our home in Tidewater Virginia.

Breakfasts were wonderful, and we enjoyed the breakfast table discussions with the other guests. Sherri's pancakes were delicious. We also enjoyed meals at the Thornton River Grill and Rudy's Pizza, both right across the street.

We brought our tandem bicycle and planned to drive to Orange for a ride on Sunday morning. On mentioning this to our hosts, they suggested riding in the Sperryville area instead. Kevin planned two nice 20 mile rides through the beautiful (and hilly) countryside, and drew nice, clear maps to guide us - an unexpected and delightful bonus for our visit.

We would definitely stay at Hopkins Ordinary again, and highly recommend it
