We booked a stay with Microtel rather last minute. We were going to be arriving in the middle of the night and the hotel we traditionally stay with was sold out. Upon arrival, we checked in and could not wait to hit the sack. As we exited the elevator on the 2nd floor, a terrible sewer like smell greeted us. Still anxious to get to bed, we proceeded to our room. As we readied for bed, we noticed sweaty 'neck roll' stains on the pillows and after pulling back the bed covers, similar dirt and stains on the fitted sheet. Mind you these did not appear to be old stains, but rather appeared to be linens that were simply unwashed after the prior guest's stay. The bathroom was in similar disarray with unkempt counter tops and hair in and around the bath tub. As tired as we were, we packed everything back up and headed back to the front desk. Though the young lady at the desk was courteous (and acknowledged that complaints such as this were not uncommon), the only thing she could offer was putting us in another room. Not wanting to risk any more precious time that I would rather spend sleeping, we declined and elected to drive until we found a nicer place.
well, this was a non-refundable booking. easy to book got the date wrong on the after i selected and confirmed that the dates were correct because they were. i tried contacting easy to book by phone to a real person but to no avail because the 4 times i called it was never in "business hours" yet never stated when business hours were. i tried the automated system, but it said this was a non-refundable booking.
anyways, when i got to the hotel about 1am and stated my situation, they did have a room available for that night, but said they can't do a refund, and that it has to be through easy to book. they said whichever company booked online usually calls when a refund is requested. i stayed there on the night of the 17. there was no hot water, and my door didn't lock, but the staff was nice. so, i just watched family guy and fell asleep with my clothes on. the next morning i had a muffin and left to work.
