Although this place could do with some refurbishment (and they're doing it), the main things are the service and helpfulness of the staff which are very good. Wifi access worked without any hiccups, and the buffet breakfast offers excellent choice and quality of the food. The room is quiet and clean, if a bit shabby and not very well lit. A working desk is a plus for business travellers. The hotel also offers free rides on the shuttle bus from/to the airport, and you can use a free phone at arrivals to request a pick up, which works out very well. There's a fitness room which seems very well equipped, and an outdoor pool I didn't use, but it seemed in good condition. Overall, a good experience. Location for me was good because our offices are only about a mile from this hotel, but if you need to go downtown often, then this is not for you: a taxi ride will cost around $25 including tips to go downtown!

this motel was very welcoming the staff that checked us in was very friendly,the beds were very comfortable.the warm chocolate chip cookie they give you while checking in was very good and welcoming after a 5 hour relay at airport and arriving at 1 a.m with no supper,i would stay again with no hesitation.the motel being next to the airport was a big plus.

Accommodations: Clean, quiet, comfortable. Service personnel: Courteous, efficient and knowledgeable Two-day stay was a vacation, even in spite of work! We will use this as a starting point whenever staying in Richmond.

This hotel always has very pleasant team members and at a reasonable rate. I stay here often because I fly out of the Richmond Airport. I also often have business in Richmond and find for the rate this is the best stay!! The restaurant is very good and this hotel offers great amenities for Diamond members.

This hotel is not up to Hilton standards. If you go in expecting an upscale brand of accommodations, you'll be disappointed. However, if you're ok with a Best Western- or Ramada-type place, then you might like it.

The staff was friendly which is about the only positive thing to say about the stay. However, they didn't ask for my Hilton Honors number when I checked in. I had to remember to tell them later. The agent handed me a blank slip of paper to sign for the hotel rates and rules. I've never been asked to sign a blank at a hotel before. Why didn't they put the price on there? He had to fold a paper up to hold the key card - pretty low-tech.

The corridors had a heavy chemical cleaning odor. The room didn't smell bad but the condition was poor. Among the features: two full beds instead of queens or a king, lumpy old mattresses, questionable linens, and thin scratchy towels. The luggage rack had a broken, torn strap. One of the two handles on the folding closet doors was missing. The tub was old and rough-surfaced with grout spilling out from the seams. I saw dirt and hairs on the floor under the sink/countertop and there were stains in the fixtures. A white dorm-size refrigerator sat right on the floor - not in a cabinet like most hotels. The fan was very loud and the temp was set to 66 when I walked in - waste of energy and way too cold.

The visit didn't start well because I called for the shuttle from the airport and they said it would be right there. Well, "right there" meant 25 minutes. When I saw how close the hotel was, I could have walked there in 5 minutes. Ridiculous.

I did have a late snack one night in the restaurant - a wrap, fries, and beer was only about $14 and the food quality and service was good. No free breakfast.but Wifi was free and worked ok.

There was sign that renovations were in progress. I'd take that as a warning sign and wait a while before thinking about staying here.

Perfectly adequate place for overnight at the Richmond airport. Free airport shuttle, clean comfortable room at a good price. No complaints about the accommodations or the service. All of the Doubletrees I've stayed in are a bit 'tired' but they meet my basic needs and expectations. These hotels reflect that they are a bit older. The rooms have all been upgraded and that is what counts for me. We came in late on a Sunday night and left early the next morning so I can't comment on the noise issue raised by a previous traveler.

One only needs to look how many HHonor Points are needed to stay at a particular property to help decide to book there. I wish I had..

Every Hilton property at the Richmond Airport is 20,000 to 30,000 points per night (including Hampton Inn) and the Doubletree Richmond Airport is only 5,000 points and it shows.

While the staff are friendly and helpful, this hotel desperately needs an update. Carpet is in poor shape, furniture broken, old light fixtures using CFL bulbs casting poor light, old paint and scratched & dinged base boards give the place a run down feeling. The hallways need new carpet & paint too. Even the carpet in the elevator is dirty and in poor shape.

The internet is so slow it's almost useless. Speedtest dot net rates the ISP with an F as download speed tested at 0.43 Mb/s and upload speed at 0.34 Mb/s with a ping taking 212ms.

The bathroom is one where you have to close the door in order to use the toilet (both standing up and sitting down).

The rooms have thin walls as you can hear what's going on next door and even across the hall. Door slams are common though out the night.

Once this place gets the much needed update I would consider returning. Not till then.

On a very good note, it's right around the corner from the Fedex office.
