“great place for work travel”

This hotel has alot of offer - whether you are just flying in for the night on business, need to be near the airport. The staff at the front desk, especially the manager (i forget his name) is very friendly. I've stayed at this hotel about 5 times over the last couple of years, and he always remembers me, and says welcome back.
The food at the hotel bar/resturant is very good. The staff in the morning also greet you with a smile. You can get a cooked breakfast, or just go for the buffet. Both are very good. They have a happy hour during the week between 5 and 7 where you can get free drinks and snacks too.
The rooms are clean and up to date. I will stay at this hotel again when i am in the Richmond area for business.

Unless you get in here for about $69 a night, I would look for other options. I travel a lot and generally stay at Hilton properties so you would think the hotel would upgrade a platinum member to one of their better (cleaner) rooms in the hotel. Instead they gave us a pretty run down room on the main floor although my preferences state high floor, away from elevator.

Since it was a weeknight the hotel was quiet. However, the room didn't feel clean and after a closer look it we realized it wasn't clean. Also, the general upkeep of the hotel was poor. There was plaster falling off the walls and the drywall looked like it was done by my 4 year old. Also, there were stains on the chairs which I'm afraid to think about what they were and the tub was filthy. This hotel is not representative of Double Tree nor the Hilton Brand. Even in older properties, I've found them to at least be clean. I've included a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

The hotel was clean and very close to the Richmond Airport, but it's very dated and needs a lot of renovating. I was on the 5th floor and the AC units are in the rooms on the upper floors. It was very noisy and i didnt get a good night sleep at all. I had plaaned to stay 4 nights, but checked out after 1 restless night it wasn't worth $83.

Room Tip: Utilize other hilton hotels only 1 miles away from the airport.

Pros:
Very close to the airport
Staff does listen to complaints and tries their best to correct them

Cons:
Dirty, Filthy Rooms.
My room was stain covered literally from floor to ceiling. Stains on the carpet, stains on the walls, lampshades, you name it and it was stained or dirty. Room smelled of bleach upon entering as well.

Bad Location for anything other than airport as it is basically in an industrial park and you would miss this hotel if you were looking for a regular looking hotel. It looks like it used to be an office building retrofitted into a hotel.

Food was bland both for room service and breakfast the morning, in fact I took two bites out of my breakfast and left it was that bad.

Like I said in major need of an overhaul but I think a wrecking ball would be more suited for this property. The staff did take care of me and my issues and took care of my room charges for the night because of how disgusting the room was so staff is going to take care of you so big plus there.

Room Tip: Choose a Room at a different Hotel!

Rooms are suites but run down. Both rooms I was in had broken shower faucets which only gave me warm water. . One room had no shampoo. I also found an old dirty sock in the closet in plain view that the housekeeper missed. I left a t shirt behind and called the next day and it was not turned in by housekeeping. I guess they didn't miss that one or bother to turn it in. Seems like some maintenance and housekeeping could help. They also have a Jazz night on Friday which can be heard in the rooms until late in the evening. The restaurant staff is nice.

Got a great suite during a flight delay. Price was excelent, $80+/- Hotel is almost walking distance to the terminal (without bags) there is a mall with everything you need for food within 3 miles.
Room was clean and comfortable great bed, tv was ok, lots of static. bathroom was a little dated and old. everything else was great.

I want to first of all applaud them for not jacking up the room rates despite the nearby NASCAR events going on during the weekend. Hotels are notorious for doubling and tripling their normal rates when NASCAR Sprint Cup comes to town (I'm looking at you Bristol, TN area.) However, I was able to get a nice suite (living room area & bedroom) with twin king beds for $130/night during the weekend of the races. The hotel amenities were nice although the restroom facilities (namely the shower) could use some TLC as there was a touch of mildew on some of the grout work. However, you really had to be looking for it to notice. The rooms were spacious, quiet and comfortable. There is an "okay" restaurant on the premises. It is conveniently located near the Richmond Airport, Richmond International Raceway and the I-95/I-64 Interstates. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area and will likely stay here in the future when attending the NASCAR races.
