A group of 12 of us enjoyed dinner at the Blue Apron last Saturday and it was everything it was cut out to be - except that it was not as noisy as expected in the front left corner! Variety and flavor were outstanding (polling all patrons) especially the salmon, halibut, chicken, scallop and tuna dishes..Thai coconut dessert won accolades for its sweetness and "kick". The restaurant uses a wonderful concept of small and large serving options (almost "tapas" style), reasonably priced to allow patrons to sample 2 or 3 main courses, appetizers, salads, and desserts without overtaxing the stomach and the wallet. We look forward to returning next year when we get back to Roanoke/Salem.

I was visiting a friend who lives in Salem, and once again TripAdvisor to the rescue! We went for lunch, and were so impressed we made reservations for dinner the following night so we could share the experience with his wife. Great menu, fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared. Loved the small or large portions, almost like a tapas setup, made exploring the menu easier. In two outings, we sampled over ten dishes and no disappointments! Amazing. The only disappointment was the ambiance...LOUD due to bad acoustics, as this place is always packed(reservations are a must)...spoke with the wonderful manager, and she said they are working on fixing the only flaw in this otherwise magnificent dining experience.

One of the best meals I've ever eaten. Why have we wasted all that time at Mac & Bob's in the past? Cold curry soup with lobster ceviche was perfectly balanced, as was the scallops dish. Make sure and get a reservation, even for lunch. We arrived at 1:00 on a Wednesday and ate in the bar because all of the tables were reserved. This worked out well, since it was quieter than the restaurant and my father wears a hearing aid.

We made reservations for 3 adults at the last minute for 9 p.m. on a Friday night and were graciously accommodated. (Kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m). We never felt rushed. Our server recommended wines to go with our food choices and personal tastes. Seared ahi tuna, seared salmon, cucumber onion salad and gazpacho were all excellent. LOVE that they offer smaller portion options so you can try multiple items. Wine list is impressive, and we didn't even look at the reserve list. Mary, the manager stopped by our table to say hello. Dining room is a bit loud when full, but that makes it feel more homey. Truly worth a visit for food, staff and charming decor. Recommended for couples, older family groups.

Who knew that such a fabulous restaurant could be tucked into a sleepy town like Salem, Virginia? Blue Apron is a wonderful surprise - impeccable service, creative menu, fantastic food: a triple threat! It's close to Roanoke and worth the 20 minute drive. The mussels - too often chewy when I've had them elsewhere - were literally melt-in-your-mouth good and the crab cakes? I say this without a hint of exaggeration: the best I've ever had! I'm sure the desserts were amazing - they looked it - but we were too full to indulge. The night we were there, the man next to us produced a huge diamond ring and asked his date to marry him. She accepted enthusiastically, much to the delight of all the diners. I will tell you this: whatever happens to them, you know they will always remember a wonderful meal at the Blue Apron!
