I have stayed at most hotel chains (Marriott, Best Western, Holiday Inn, Hilton, Embassy Suites, etc.). While the larger, more expensive hotels are better all around, this Best Western is the best "smaller" hotel I've ever stayed in.

I was there for five nights because of a conference I was attending at the hotel. The staff made sure my conference room was ready each day (Veronica was great). The front desk staff was friendly as well as the housekeeping and maintenance staff.

The bed was so comfortable I actually didn't want to get out of bed each day.

While the restaurant selection is limited with Lord Hardwicks being the only one within walking distance, Dominoe's will deliver or you are just a few minutes drive to Charlottesville where you can find several restaurants.

This is the "BEST" Best Western I've ever visited and will stay there again if I return to that area.

Great job to all the staff!!!!

The hotel is close to everything but yet off so it is in a quit place , Lord Hardwick resturant ( really good ) is in walking distance to hotel right next door, Me and my husband went there twice for lunch , I came up to stay @ this hotel b/c i was there for a funeral
the girl @ the front desk ( named Tammy ) was very very helpfull
she really helped us out got us a room at short notice for three nights ,
The room was practicaly brand new looking the pool was nice too it was not crowded and my little sister came over to swim and she loved it , we had a king bed so comfy and big, free breakfast with waffles and all the normal things , Free internet ,a large workout room , lots of parking up close , I loved it we would stay there again if not for ..

There was a older man and a younger blond hair woman working the desk one night (7/1/08)and you could tell they where joking and kind of stuck up toward us i had family members that where comeing to see us while i was there and i just felt very insulted as we walked outside and they talked about us as i turned around they lafed at us as if they had nothing better to do.
I work at a rather large hotel @ the beach and we just dont treat people like that so i was a little upset as was my husband about this

other than that i loved the hotel ,we will stay @ the doubletree next time

I appreciate all of the kind remarks regarding our hotel and was astonished to hear the comments regarding the staff at the front desk. The guest did not report any concerns to hotel managment at any point during her stay that would have afforded us the opportunity to investigate/follow up. I do not excuse any behavior that would ever offend a guest and would have appreciated more information to support the comments in her review. I would ask that any guest considering staying at our hotel look at the multiple awards won that were based off of comment cards filled out by our guests and be assured that our hotel has been ranked # 1 in our district in service for many months.

I have to disagree with the other reviewer. I live in the immediate area and have checked out this hotel as I will be having several family members stay there when they come to town for my daughters Baptism. I just wanted to clarify for people considering staying here.... Yes, it is in a rural area, however, it is very close to the airport and if you simply get in your car and drive 5-10 minutes down route 29 south, you will run into the north end of Charlottesville where there are PLENTY of places to eat. Bonefish Grill, Panera, Five Guys, TGI Fridays, Timberwood Grill, Dairy Queen, Subway, McDonalds, Starbucks, Quiznos... There is also a Target, Harris Teeter Supermarket among lots of other stores.

The hotel is just north of Charlottesville and 12 miles from Downtown. It is a short drive (5-10 minutes) to shopping & restaurants. We also have Lord Hardwick's Restaurant & Bar opening within walking distance in February. Our complimentary continental breakfast consists of sausage or bacon egg & cheese biscuits, coffee (reg., decaf, & dark roast), assorted hot teas, orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, bananas, mixed tropical fruit salad, bagels, specialty loaf breads, doughnuts, toast, yogurt, assorted cold cereals, assorted hot cereals, milk (reg, 2%, & skim), etc. Quite a large assortment of items for a continental breakfast. We also constantly add/improve our breakfast items based on our guests feedback. The hotel has won the Director's Award, Chairman's Award, and Best of the Best Design Awards from Best Western since opening. We are also ranked #1 in guest service in our District at the time of this posting.
