“SWEET SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY”
Reviewed April 18, 2009

This is a sweet Inn full of southern charm.Wonderful food and nice rooms with comfy linens and soft towels. Loved the claw footed tub. Very close to the historic downtown Central square market. Inn keeper Wendy was very sweet and hospitable. Afternoon tea was a delight.

If you were to live one day over and over again as Bill Murray did in "Ground Hog's Day" you might want to choose to spend it at the Rose Hill B&B. What an incredible job Wendy has done in restoring this home to it's 100 year old charm and so much more!
With all the personal attention given to each detail, this B&B leaves you wanting to come back again and again to discover the quaint, artistic expressions you feel certain you missed in just one visit. You can feel the pleasure this owner has found in creating her own place; her work having produced so much personal satisfaction for both inn keeper and guests alike. A word of caution, don't eat too much dinner the night before her breakfast; you will regret leaving any of her homemade breakfast items on your plate! February 2, 2009

  • Liked — The professional detail of the decor and the food preparation

The house is beautiful with special touches throughout. Wendy is a warm and gracious host. She serves afternoon tea (homemade goodies) and a gourmet breakfast on lovely china and silver. Again, special touches that make you feel very pampered. I highly recommend staying here as it was one of the best b&b I have experienced.

I've been to B&Bs and pensions around the world and this is top of the list -- worth the drive to Roanoke just for the experience. This was my boyfriend's first B&B. The place was so beautiful and homey and full of good food that I'm afraid to take him anywhere else now -- Wendy has invented her own standard! The design of each room is thoughtful to the smallest detail. Each has its own dedicated bathroom with an array of delightful features, like the beautiful peacock mosaic in the peacock bathroom countertop. You will enjoy a homemade nighttime snack and ironed sheets and bountiful breakfast (on elegant china, as other reviewers have noted). Perfect fuel for enjoying hiking, biking, and the lush outdoors around Roanoke. The only thing that we didn't like about our stay was the part where we had to leave. We didn't want to leave the homey embrace and elegance of Rose Hill.

This place is absolutely terrific. It's a beautiful home that was built in 1910, so it is full of charm and character! It was absolutely immaculate, and at the same time warm. Wendy Blair is a great hostess, and a wonderful cook. Check in early to get the High Tea. Breakfast is a multi-course meal at Rose Hill. One of the best B+B values anywhere. Highly recommended!

This place is really wonderful. It's a beautiful home that was built in 1910, so it is full of charm and character! It was absolutely immaculate, and at the same time welcoming. Wendy Blair is a great hostess, and a wonderful cook. And she is VERY accommodating if you have special dietary needs. Breakfast is a multi-course meal at Rose Hill, so be prepared to eat. It is delicious!

  • Liked — Cleanliness
  • Disliked — No locks on bedroom door (not that it was necessary . . . I'm just paranoid like that).
