Food...fast food restaurant quality and quantity. Local, but overblown in hype. Experience would not bring back an out-of-towner.

“Good home cooking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

When you visit the Roanoker do not expect anything fancy just good southern home cooking. Outstanding biscuits, an award winner. Country game with red eye gravy for breakfast. Chili with Otis of meat and beans with corn sticks are great on ahold winter evening.

“Bring another BLT, please”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012

Would call this "country-cooking comfort food." Only ate here once (a late lunch on a Fri.) but meant to make it back a 2nd time. Pleasantly old-fashioned decor without being kitschy, lots of parking and Golden Oldies muzak. The menu, too, was full of Golden Oldies. I choose a BLT sandwich with curly fries, which instantly transported me back to a really good soda fountain lunch in 1965. Fresh, delicious and ample portions. Ended by poaching from my wife's dessert, which tasted home-baked. Nobody hurried us, but the waitress and cashier both invited us to "Come again, y'all."

“Old-fashioned goodness”

The apple pie is homemade and delicious. Sandwiches are reasonable and generous. The best of southern hospitality.

“Yummy”

The Roanoker Resturant is a great place to eat. The best fried chicken in Roanoke. A family style resturant with great breakfast lunch and dinner.
