We celebrated our daughter's wedding reception at The Hotel Roanoke. We had many out-of-town guests, so ended up needing a block of about 50 rooms, with most guests staying from Friday night to Sunday.
We had a beautiful suite for the weekend, which included a king bed room, a room with two queen beds, and a living/dining area with a queen sized Murphy bed. Each room had a private full bathroom as well. The rooms were beautiful, good sized, and very comfortable, with coffee makers in each room and a small refrigerator and microwave in the living area. Everything was immaculate.
From the valets to the front desk to the waitstaff at the Regency room and the reception, every employee that we encountered was friendly, helpful, and cheerful. Every request was answered with some variation of "Of course!". Although there was a lot going on in the hotel over the weekend (including at least two other wedding parties), we were made to feel like we were the top priority of the staff.
Although I didn't have high expectations for the buffet at the reception, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and the staff kept everything replenished promptly and unobtrusively. The ballroom was decorated beautifully and everything was arranged as the bride had requested, thanks to the attention of the banquet and event staff.
We were able to enjoy the Regency Room with its incredible buffet for breakfast every morning, Once again, the staff was friendly and accommodating.
Several of our guests enjoyed the fitness room and the pool, as well.
The enclosed walkway to downtown Roanoke was an added bonus. We were impressed by the restaurants, the galleries, and the farmers' market! Several of our guests told us that they planned to return because they had such a good impression of the city.
Any negatives? There is a daily parking charge, but for the convenience and the speed of the valets we found it worth the price. Also, there is a charge for internet service from the guest rooms, but wireless is free in the hotel lobby with a login code from the front desk.
The public spaces of the hotel are beautiful. With a simple request at the front desk, you can find yourself in possession of a warm chocolate chip cookie, seated in a rocking chair on the front porch.
Thank you to all at The Hotel Roanoke for making my daughter's wedding weekend so perfect!
