“BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO STAY”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

This is a beautiful and charming hotel. Rooms were very clean and beds are very
comfortable. The staff very polite and helpful. Very nice young men employed as the
valets. We sat out on the porch in the rocking chairs late that night relaxing and talking
after we saw Celtic Thunder in concert. We used the express check out. This made
checking out so easy. We recommend Hotel Roanoke to everyone.

Our stay was very comfortable. There were six weddings going on, Paul Ryan with secret service escort was holding a fundraiser, and scores of kids were running around in the hotel, and yet it was still peaceful and relaxing. The hotel does a great job of coordinating all the events that come and go through. We lucked out with a corner room so we didn't have neighbors on the other side of the walls. The room was peaceful, no real view, but its Roanoke. The amenities were fine. You expect an old hotel to start to feel dingy but it was not the case. The bed was extremely comfortable. ***The Wolfgang Puck coffee in the room was better than the restaurant's FYI, not very good. I'd say the food hotel bar was so so, I'd recommend a quick walk into town for dining for food, coffee, nightlife and anything else you need.

Room Tip: Corner room.

My family and I traveled here on business. The hotel property itself is gorgeous! Built in the 1800's and just stellar.
The hotel boasts all the finest amenities: spa, formal dining, casual dining, etc. The spa gets booked fast, though, so if it would be on your agenda book it in advance of your stay!
The pool was closed already, so we could not experience it and we had, perhaps a very UNUSUAL time to stay as a political Vice-Presidential candidate decided to campaign there the very night we were there....weird to see Secret Service men running about and carrying trays with champagne! : ) The rooms were spacious - not enormous, but certainly comfortable. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. We dined in the formal restaurant. The cost was MORE than the room! But, it was delicious! We were greeted warmly upon check in, and the staff was bending over backwards to provide excellent service. From valet, to bell hop, to concierge, to front desk, to wait staff...Impeccable! Oh, and spring for the breakfast package...it is bountiful and delicious!

We were at this hotel for business and the hotel and location didn't disapoint. The conference room was spacious with comfortable seats, The hotel room was comfortable quiet and clean, and the hotel is a short walk to anything from fine dining, to night life. My one small complaint is that the bathroom was a little small.

Stayed here this week and had a business planning session. Great hotel. The staff ultra friendly, from reception to the valet, everyone was great! Reception even handed out warm cookies. Delicious! When I walked into the room, I was taken back by how small the beds seemed, but maybe it was just me. My associates and I had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and everything was great. They seemed a little slow but I chalk that up to our group being a large party. The business session was held in one of their conference rooms. Well appointed and the snacks and drinks were great to get you through a day long session. One really nice point is the sky bridge to walk across to get downtown and visit local establishments. Well done! All in all a great place to stay and meet. If you are in Roanoke you probably already know this. If you are coming to town on business, please consider staying here. There is no other place I would rather be in Roanoke, VA.

Stayed here for 2 nights, but didn't have a chance to enjoy any facilities at the hotel. Upon arrival I was pleased with the old world architecture of the hotel and knew instantly that I would experience a first class weekend.
Check in and check out was easy and friendly. The rooms are well appointed, mostly spacious and furnished with quality amenities. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean and bright.
The hotel charges for parking, whether you self park or valet, something I didn't care for or expect in Roanoke.
Nevertheless, if I ever return to the area, the Hotel Roanoke /Double Tree by Hilton, is at the top of my list.
Great job to the staff and management and continued success.
