we were supposed to stay at another hotel in the area but after we saw the place decided it would be best to find another hotel in the area. Hotel Roanoke was at the top of our list after a quick search. we were able to book two rooms from their hotel computers (these was cheaper than what the front desk could get them to us for). the Hotel is in a great location to the downtown shopping area and many restaurants. after returning back to the hotel for the night we discovered that the pillows and comforter were made of feather. which i am highly allergic too. i called the front desk around 11 pm and with in minutes someone was knocking at the door with four new pillows and a comforter. this is the type of service every hotel should aim for.the next morning we decided to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant. we all had the buffet and it was amazing. the price was fair for what was on the menu. the next time we are in the Roanoke area a stop off at the Hotel Roanoke is a must.

I have been here many times for conferences and meetings. Gracious and inviting!

Make sure you make early reservations if you are attending a conference or you will not get a room.

Dining room can be rather pricey for the area but the food was excellent.

Many other choices for dining nearby a short car ride away.

You will enjoy the gracious hotel as a welcomed change from the chain hotels. Worth every penny!

Room Tip: Ask the hotel desk when you book for a great choice in rooms.

Dear Makski, thank you for your review of the Hotel. While we offer 331 rooms, large conferences can fill up our hotel rather quickly and it's a great tip to book the room early and also inquire about what types of rooms are available. We have everything from large suite accommodations to Allergy Friendly Rooms. I hope if you are in the area again, you will choose to stay with us.

Sincerely,

This is a fairly charming historic property (a railroad hotel from the early days of the railroad) that is handily linked to the downtown area by a footbridge just steps from the hotel front door over the road and railroad tracks to within a block on the center of the small but interesting downtown. We stayed there for one night on Dec 27 as a way point between Atlanta and the NYC area having intended to push on to Lexington (50 miles further) It turned out to be a good choice. Because the complex focuses on conventions of which there are few between Christmas and New Years we got a great rate - senior rate of $94 double vs $125 for the Hampton Inn where we had intended to stay in Lexington. (By the way, as a general rule one can get great rates at primarily business hotels if you plan to stay when business is low, as around major holidays - just when tourist hotels may be at their peak rate.) The town center was full of fairly funky shops and restaurants (we ate at one although the hotel restaurant looked good, if expensive).

This is a very lovely old hotel. I was there during December, so it was decorated in the the most charming manner. The lobby is like stepping into the past (1882, to be precise). I enjoyed a dinner there our first night. The service was slow, but the food was amazing and I absolutely LOVED the Sunday brunch. The hotel is also nicely located to the downtown Roanoke shops/cultural site and there's an above-ground walkway that makes it an easy 5-minute jaunt. Free internet accesss just off the lobby, too. The only thing missing was an indoor pool. All in all, I would definitely stay there again (If I'm ever that luckiy!).

Room Tip: If you want a quiet night's rest, ask to be in a room far from the elevators.
