What great food! Great service. Big portions. Will come back! Had chicken Marsalis for two, $19.99. Came with a salad and bread! Pepsi products! Can't wait to come again. Great show by the cooks!

“Some of the best Italian I've had in Roanoke”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2014

Absolutely wonderful, freshly made Italian food. It was a great experience. Our table of four did two apps and then two of the "entrees for two" ...not only was the food incredible, but we also had leftovers to take home. And every dish that passed by to go to another table also looked amazing. Great service, prices and portion sizes. Will definitely return.

“Great Overall Experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

We had a great experience overall. The seating/dining area felt a little cramped & loud as far as atmosphere. That did not matter to me at all once I tasted the delicious fettucine alfredo, lasagna & spaghetti w/ meatballs. The meatballs specifically were some of the best i've ever had. I will most definitely return & have no problems recommending this restaurant to others.

“Remini's provides a delicious meal, and lots of it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

As the last in a series of Roanoke restaurants we visited, we found Remini's on US 221 South, well southwest of downtown. The interior looked ordinary, a clean but unremarkable space in the middle of a small strip mall, with no tablecloths and bad paintings on the wall. Tables are well-spaced and even during a busy time, noise would not seem to be a problem. Our waitress couldn't answer a couple of questions we had about menu selections, apologizing that it was her first day on the job, but she consulted a colleague and promptly returned with informed answers. For example, the house salad was in fact a Caesar Salad. We decided on a two-person family meal of Chicken Marsala, and of the three pasta types our waitress offered, we chose fettuccine instead of spaghetti or penne.

We were served the salad in a generously sized bowl along with a sizable chunk of pre-sliced Italian bread. The bread was appropriately chewy inside and out, and had a pleasant taste whether or not we dipped a slice in the peppered olive oil provided. As for the Caesar salad, Romaine lettuce should always be coated with dressing that delicious. One doesn't expect a simple salad to be a showstopper, but our second helpings eventually cleaned out the bowl.

Preceded by its tempting aroma wafting towards us from the open kitchen, the Chicken Marsala arrived in a tremendous heap on a large plate. That amount would have satisfied two defensive tackles, but quality wasn't lost in favor of quantity. The chunks of chicken and the sliced mushrooms were numerous and the sauce perfectly complemented their flavors. It mattered not that the kitchen had used spaghetti, as the menu stipulated, instead of the fettuccine. A side dish of sliced and sautéed zucchini, yellow squash, onions and tomatoes was properly peppered and delicious. Our second helpings barely made a dent in the leftovers and the take-home containers must have had six cups of the entrée with a small serving of the veggies.

We departed happily full of bread, salad, vegetables and Chicken Marsala, exclaiming over how good each of those tasted, and looking forward to leftovers.

There is no doubt that Remini's merits five stars for large portions of excellent food in a tranquil setting. Our waitress gave us attentive service and did just fine for her first day on the job; there is no reason to doubt that she will quickly work off her rookie jitters. We will eagerly return to Remini's on our next visit to Roanoke and only regret that the chef wasn't traveling home with us.

“Good, but improvements could be made!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

Have been to Remini's several times. The first time or two I think they were getting the kinks worked out still. The owner/chef was running everything with one assistant in the kitchen that had to be showed how to do everything, while the waitstaff kind of just stood back in the kitchen area waiting for something to be prepared that they could take out. Food prep/service seemed to improve the last few times I have gone. My wife and I usually get the meals for two which include their delicious ceasar salad! We have tried the steak pizzaiola which had good flavor but was light on the sauce. We also have had the chicken marsala which also was pretty good, but needed a richer marsala wine-tasting sauce! My wife goes every now and then for lunch, and have heard nothing but good things about lunch there.
My only question for the owners is have you EVER tasted your minestrone soup?!?! I have had canned soup that was FAR superior to the bowl of soup i received at Remini's. I would be embarrassed to serve that to people! Not sure whose soup is worse,Remini's or Mirko! The soup was so pathetic that I thought about cooking up the family recipe and taking it in there and having them sample it side by side some day.

In conclusion, GO! You will enjoy it. In their defense, I have not been in probably two months, so maybe things have improved to the 4 star level. The food is good, but should be closely examined by the owners to make sure that it is to the level they want to serve. Make sure the pasta is sauced adequately. Make sure the sauce is rich and flavorful and not watered down or low on flavor. I think Remini's could be REALLY good, and hope it improves and sticks around for awhile!
