We hosted a small wedding party here with close friends and family, about 60 to 70 people. It was just the right amount of size. We also added that our guests could visit the photos downstairs in the museum. They loved it! The space was the perfect place for our special night.

The photographer's passion for steam trains and the people enroute really resonate in his amazing photos and the museum does a good job providing the background regarding Link and his project. Definitely a don't miss while in Roanoke!

While small compared to larger cites the museum was very well done with an assortment of displays now that the renovation is complete. From early Native American life up to the present day the displays take your through the regions history. Tailored to adults and older students we found it very easy to understand the signage and vocal/media displays.

Tip- bring a sweater as it is VERY cold.

A small private museum that charges admission should at least get the few things that it does right. The photos were great, but two of the computer videos were broken down when we were there. When I complained to the one person working at the museum, she said someone would be coming to fix them in a couple days. Also, they have a large storage room behind glass walls when you first walk in with many more photos, but you can't go in to see those. I thought it would be a nice experience for our family that would keep our daughter interested. Unless you're into studying the craft of photography, I wouldn't recommend this museum.

We were given a first class description of Roanoke by a first class receptionist. She gave us excellent directions to the various museums in the area. The history museum itself was more that worth seeing.
