“This was neat!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

This was part of our guided tour at our stop in Roanoke, VA. I thought this was a real neat attraction! You are able to see out over the city and it's a beautiful view. They also have a web camera on the star and you can have friends or family key in the web address & they are able to see you standing there. I thought this was real neat as I called my grandaughter and she was able to pull up the site and see me waving at her. This is a great quick little stop if you're in the area and it's free!

“This is a must visiit location if ever in or near Roanoke, VA. Spectacular view from beneath the star/”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Don't miss this attraction that overlooks Roanoke from beneath the Mill Mountain Star which is visible for up to 60 miles on clear nights as it is lighted up. Also the Mill Mountain Zoo is on the mountain too and RV camping closely located. Spectacular attraction! The zoo has a entrance fee but the Mill Mountain park does not have a fee. Plenty of parking too.

“The Star of the Star City!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

While this is not some exciting nightlife or great entertainment attraction, it is a great place to go, relax, enjoy the scenery and some spectacular views of Roanoke. The park is very nicely laid out with walking paths, benches and picnic areas. The best plan for you day is to come late in the afternoon or evening with a picnic dinner and somebody with whom you love to share special times. Hike the walk paths see the views from the lookout platforms, visit the Zoo if it is open and the visitor center. Then as darkness falls (be sure to snap some pictures of sunsets and the scenery by daylight) take some more pictures of the City of Roanoke in the dark. Set you camera for slow exposure times on a camera tripod to get some amazing images. Then turn and get some shots of the star. Listen to the sounds of nature and the sounds of a busy city below. Might want to have a cup of hot coco or java (maybe from Mill Mountain Coffee) as you drink in your surroundings. This is a great place to visit and it doesn't cost a dime. ENJOY the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains!

“Breath-Taking!!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

This is a must-see whenever you come to Roanoke--both during the day and at night! The views of the City and the mountains are stunning during the day! The enormity of the star is best seen at night as you stand in front of it while it is lit! Definitely a fun discovery in Roanoke!

“Scenery Scenery Scenery!!! Fresh mountain/city views! A must see!”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

I grew up in Roanoke and this place is always a must visit while in the Roanoke area. The Mill Mountain is beautiful and there are some little trails and seating areas and places to walk around that overlooks the downtown roanoke area and some of the surrounding communities and mountains for as far as the eyes can see. Come in the day ... come in the night ... sunrise...sunset... come all the time! Bring your friends, family, or go at it alone as it's a beautiful place. Sometimes the city changes the colors of the star at night for certain events/celebrations/happenings. It can be a nice romantic place too if you make it that way :)
