From the moment we parked we saw beauty. You can see and feel the time that went into the beautiful restoration of this home. Ron and Claire spent four years on the renovation and it shows with every detail. Our room was well decorated and very comfortable with every amenity available. The breakfasts were delicious with different meals each day we stayed. The location has restaurants within walking distance for dinner. Ron and Claire were very warm and friendly hosts. Overall wonderful experience. We will definitely return.

My husband and I stayed at the Black Lantern Inn for just one night, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. We had the bedroom on the first floor with a king-size bed (which was a little big for the room, but the room wasn't overly crowded). We had access to the first-floor living room, which was a great place to watch the NCAA basketball tournament! You could tell that a lot of care was taken with the renovation of the home, including wide baseboards, headers over windows and doors, modern bathroom design (think HGTV) and kitchen amenities (although we weren't there long enough to use the kitchen). The location made it easy to get to and from anywhere in Roanoke. And the breakfast -- WOW. Eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, blueberry pancakes, and fruit with yogurt and honey. Ron and Claire (B&B owners) were friendly, warm, and totally helpful. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: There was a bit of road noise in the room we had (first floor, front of house); perhaps the rooms up...

Fantastic B&B in the heart of Roanoke. Stellar rooms and amenities, absolutely delicious breakfasts both mornings of our stay, and great attentiveness from the owner while still maintaining plenty of guest privacy. Loved the jetted bathtub and the fancy toiletries! Would definitely stay here again on return visits to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the up-and-coming downtown of Roanoke. Thanks!

We just returned from a trip to visit our daughter who recently settled in the historic district of Roanoke, VA. We found this bed and breakfast to be superb and coincidentally around the corner from our daughter's new apartment. Service was outstanding, personal touches galore were available, and the home is convenient, beautiful and finely crafted. Ron and Claire, the proprietors, were gracious and welcoming. The breakfast was gourmet and delicious. We look forward to visiting our daughter and the Inn again very soon!

Room Tip: We loved the Tiger Eye room for its beauty, comfort and the best bathroom on the premises!

The Skyline Room at the top of the house was arranged for me during a 3-day stay while I was in Roanoke on business. It was ideal in every way. The room was extremely comfortable, spacious, and immaculate. A plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies was waiting just for me at the end of each day. An accessible fridge was stocked with drinks ranging from colas to champagne. And the breakfast was without doubt the best I have been served anywhere, in terms not only of what was served but also how it was cooked, as all of the other reviews can attest. For anyone who wants to spend a night or more in Roanoke, The Black Lantern Inn should be the first place to consider.

My fiancee and I stayed in the Venetian room for two days last weekend and it was a remarkable and lovely experience. We made arrangements to come in late at night and Ron graciously accommodated our arrival. The room was immaculate and beautiful, with a canopied bed and lovely rugs. Ron used to be a contractor, and you can tell that all of the work on the house was done exactingly. Our breakfasts - soft scrambled eggs with basil, sausage or bacon, blueberry pancakes, crispy potato pancakes, a bowl of granola, fruit and yogurt with honey - were ample and delicious. We could not have asked for a better experience. We felt very well taken care of, and the room felt completely private, though tucked away on the first floor.

Room Tip: The Venetian has a beautiful, canopied king bed and a jacuzzi bath.
