I have previously had good experiences with this establishment, but Fork in the City was decidedly "below par" last evening, when we entertained out of town guests. We are in the midst of a heat wave, and the restaurant's air conditioning was not up to the task: it was hot and uncomfortable and our dinner guests were breaking a sweat. The uncomfortable temperature immediately turned me off. It took a very long time to get our drink order, while I could see our drinks languishing at the bar counter, "heating up".
My wife ordered a burger, medium and it was not cooked sufficiently --the inside was rare/raw; she left most of it uneaten. I ordered a cup of seafood gumbo, which was served cold, the cheese unmelted, and it had no broth at all. It was like a congealed stew that one would eat with a fork. The shrimp did not taste right --perhaps a victim of the area's power outages?
Not sure what happened, but this was a very "off" evening for what had previously been a pretty good local restaurant. At this writing, I cannot pull up their on-line menu, which is another indication of management issues.
