“Great place for a group”
Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

We were in town for a conference and a bunch of us decided to go out to dinner together. The staff was extremely accommodating. We started out with 6 and 4 more came a short time later. They added seating and were very willing to do all separate checks. There was something on the menu for everyone and all seemed happy with the food and ambiance. We sat out doors which was very pleasant on a warm night.

“great sunday place”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

nice! right in the heart of downtown Roanoke we met a bunch of family members for a casual sunday brunch. They had great mimosas to start us off, then our server, Heather, told of the daily specials, she was a really good server too. We all ordered something different and everyone was very pleased with their food. I would love to go again, next time I am in town

“Great apple slaw”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

Terrific apple slaw as a side with meals! Excellent service. Good pastrami sandwich and local beer. Had a late lunch and mostly the restaurant to ourselves.

“Fabulous, unexpectedly delicious food”
Reviewed August 4, 2012

The chef puts together great concepts, such as garlic hummus, lamb slices and pita wedges golden and puffed. My husband got a soup of caramelized onion with almond. Both were incredibly delicious. The family group next to us was speaking French. The food may be a bit too sophisticated for Roanoke, but the atmosphere is comfortable and the service is great.

“Not a good experience”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

Our extended family dined here on a Friday night during our son's graduation weekend. Given the nature of our visit and having had a great experience the night before (see Blue Apron in Salem, VA) we all were in a celebratory mood and looking forward to a nice night. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed, as we found the atmosphere stale, the menu choices odd (antelope osso buco, for example), the food fair, and the service extremely poor. Regarding the latter, either our waitress wasn't cut out for this type of work or she wasn't properly trained (or both, neither of which are necessarily her fault). The worst part was we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity for a party of "6 1/2" (my teenage daughter went back to the hotel because she was ill)! When I spoke with the hostess about the situation she indicated our waitress was the best on staff; she then offered us complimentary champagne which we very reluctantly accepted but couldn't drink (even my 22-year old's palate rejected it). On arrival my instincts told me this wouldn't be a good experience, and I should've trusted them.
