i just spent 4 nights at this hotel and could not be more pleased. The room was clean and spacious with comfortable beds and pillows.I had a nice HDTV with major network channels.A nice sized fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The bathroom was clean with no mold.We had hot water, blow drier, and B&B amenities. We came back to a spotless room everyday. The pool was the perfect temperature and the hot tub was amazing! The staff is very professional, kind, and helpful.I highly recommend this hotel. It was nicer then the 4 star that we had in Vegas!

I don't understand the reviews on this site that say that this is a decent place to stay.

The front desk was moderately helpful, though happy to carry on side conversations and throw you attitude if you dare to interrupt and ask a guest related question.

The lobby wreaks of chlorine because the pool is, naturally, in the lobby.

The food in the restaurant was ok, and the staff was helpful.

One thing you should know before you book is that you apparently need to ask for a room that has a view OUTSIDE. Most of the rooms face inside, and thus your "valley view" is that of the lobby and restaurant area. Some rooms have no windows at all. Which means you also can't open your window while you are getting dressed unless you want the restaurant patrons to watch you.

The hallways are dirty. The walls and doors need to be painted.

As for the room - this was the dirtiest place I have ever slept. And I slept in European bus stations in college. The carpets were in desperate need of being replaced. Not cleaned - but replaced. The light in the room were dim and everything looked dirty and run down. The furniture was chipped and in need to replacement.

I do not recommend this hotel at all, especially since there are plenty of other options in Roanoke.

We just had our state photography convention at this place last week. They were extremely accommodating since our previous hotel closed. The staff was fantastic and any need we had, they were their. From the front desk to the wait staff, they were great. The hotel is across the street from a very nice mall that has every restaurant known to man. What needs improvement on is the water heater situation. After a work out in the morning, the gym was sparse, but adequate, went to take and shower and got nothing but cold water. It was 10:00 in the morning so I would think it would have had plenty of time to get some heat from the early morning people taking a shower. Some of my friends had the same problem earlier.

I just hope they correct it because we were so impressed, that we voted to have our convention there again next year.

I have stayed regularly at this Hotel on business and can speak to it well...

Generally speaking this hotel is middle of the road for a Holiday Inn, nothing too fancy and not a dump like some. It has some age on it but has had a fairly thorough remodeling it looks like several years ago that is now getting a little age on the remodel. Don’t be fooled by the owner’s photo this is not a fancy brand new hotel but green beam of light are there upon your entrance!

Some of the good points:
* Refrigerator and microwave in every room
* Decent HDTVs (for a Hotel) with some channels in HD
* I have only gotten the standard king rooms and I have always gotten a coffee table & 2.5 person couch, that is a nice touch.
* Complementary wireless Internet that is usable during peak hours.

Now the bad:
* Most rooms are noisy for one reason or another.
* About half the rooms directly face the interstate and if you get a room on that side you WILL hear traffic all night long.
* If you get one on the other side, many of those rooms over look the lobby and lobby is open and echoes allot. The main source of the lobby noise is the open bar / restaurant area. That bar is no stranger to late night noise, on paper this bar closes at 10:30pm; I have had sleepless early nights where the bar noise keeps going beyond midnight. Just a small hand full of people in that bar with a couple drinks in them can make an incredible amount of noise. Also if you where kept up by the bar, breakfast starts at 6:30am, which is not nearly as loud as late night bar noise. That being said not every night is a rowdy bar night, maybe you will get lucky if you overlook the lobby and have a quite night or nights.
* If you are lucky with your room assignment: there are rooms not facing the interstate and not overlooking the lobby, these are the quietest, here your only noise enemy will be the window heat/ac unit (only the lobby overlook rooms do not have those). In some rooms those units can be noisy.

* There are Gold’s Gym passes (which is a good thing) however if you regularly travel to this hotel and use Gold’s regularly, once the staff at Gold’s starts to recognize you, they will deny you the use of a valid hotel pass. Unfortunately the hotel’s gym partner is not a very good partner at keep their end of the bargain.

*This hotel seems to attract many not so considerate guests. I have found there seems to be a disproportionately high number of rude, loud and inconsiderate guests (compared to other hotels I have been to in this class / price range). Once again if you’re staying briefly this is not something you run into every night. The problem seems to be worse on or near a holiday.

Overall it’s a decent hotel, it’s pretty well run, and the facilities / amenities are acceptable however it does have its noisy moments, the hotel staff could work harder at controlling it but sadly allot of it is building design issues. As critical as this review may seem, the hotel is worthy of 3 out of 5 stars overall and 4 out of 5 in one of the less noisy rooms on a good day.

Room Tip: Get a room NOT on the interstate side and NOT overlooking the lobby

Spent a couple days at this hotel. Nice place. Friendly staff.
I couldn't believe that they did not have any of the major networks on their television. All the cable channels, but no ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox. Listed the HD channels, but no HDMI cable= no channels.
I will call and ask before my next trip.

The front desk staff was hit or miss. The night people were super friendly and helpful, but it was hard to locate people during the day to get assistance. The rooms were clean enough, the bathrooms had a lot of counter space and strong showers.

We stayed at this hotel in the fall while visiting friends in Roanoke for two nights. The hotel was clean, and the location was decent. One advantage to use was that a grocery store was located 1/4 mile down the road, so that we could stock up on snacks for our trip back home. I stay at a lot of Holiday Inns, and found this one to be pretty good.
