I usually stay at Hanpton inns, but not after this experience! It was an old motel covered to a Hampton inn, yacks! Rooms opened into the dark parking lot!the bathroom was weird.the room had a musty order( or dog, not sure) It had a tub and shower head, but the shower didn't work, there was an additional shower installed next to it for taking a shower....very weird! This motel was sandwiched between a Super 8 and a Howard johnson's motor lodge. There was a waffle house across the street with some weird folks in the parking lot. I asked in the lobby about somwhere to eat supper. An individual in the lobby said the Mexican restaurant next door was ok.....if you have two maragritas first. If I hadn't already prepaid i would have left. I didn't sleep at all and couldn't get out of there fast enough!Shame on Hampton inn!!!

After an easy and very friendly check-in we found our room. The single king bed room was, as others mentioned, very large and included a shower stall and tub with shower. The room was clean and everything worked as expected. We come down to Roanoke once a year and keep coming back to the Hampton. We will again next year!

My wife and I checked in late in the evening, and Melissa was on duty at the front desk. She greeted us like were old friends not seen in a long time, and we had never even met. She went out of her way to make sure that we were happy with the room that was reserved for us and even made us a fresh pot of coffee right then and there to boot.

This Hampton has all outside rooms, and normally that does not bode well in comparison to newer inside room properties. But in this case we were more than pleasantly surprised. The first thing we noticed was that the room was CLEAN and smelled clean! It was spacious, reasonably well appointed and even had an outside the bathroom sink, in bathroom sink, a tub with shower and a separate stall shower. Haven't seen that before, anywhere. Flat screen TV and digital controlled heating & A/C as well. And as usual, the king bed was comfortable and we slept quite well. The hotel is about 17 years old, but for an outside room property, it was excellent in comparison. And our car was right outside.

The pool was about average but nice, and the breakfast was the typical Hampton Inn offering, but good nevertheless. And right near the airport and I-81.

Overall, if you need a hotel in the Roanoke, VA airport area, this one should do you just fine. It certainly did for us.

Room Tip: Two story hotel. Not sure if there is an elevator. Ask for a ground floor room.

Our room was exceptionally large and spacious as well as decorated very nicely. It included a king bed ~ double dresser ~ two sitting chairs with one ottoman ~ a large computer table ~ very well lit room ~ and a huge bathroom with a full tub/shower as well as a stall shower.

The front desk staff were very pleasant. Though this was an older hotel, it was exceptional and the best of all the Hampton Inns that we stayed in during he last two weeks. We will definitely return to this hotel when we are in Roanoke.

As previous reviewers have said, not a typical Hampton. More like a travelodge, outside rooms, no elevator. Very close to the highway and its associated noise. Not recommended unless there's nowhere else available. Unless of course you like hand towels made to look like dead nuns.

In the room as I type...outside entrance...not the best for women traveling...long hairs on floor in bath...renovated super 8 or something...just hoping the bed is comfortable but it feels quit hard, unlike most Hamptons beds...paid $99 which is too much for this Hampton.
We hated the Mexican restaurant next doors...great service but if you want decent food avoid this at all costs.
