We stopped here overnight on a road trip, there was dried blood on the bathroom floor, a bug crushed in the bathtub, holes burned in the comforter, and a lot of suspicious individuals and activities outside our room. The room was supposedly smoke free, but smelt very strongly of smoke on arrival. If I didn't have my two dogs with me I would not have felt safe staying here over night.
This hotel can most accurately be described as being the epicenter for drugs and prostitution in the Roanoke area. The management will put on like they have cleaned the place up and that its totally safe, which is not the case unless you are fortunate enough to get a room that is in the front facing orange avenue. Since the main road is the only thing visible to the front desk, most of the criminal activity goes unnoticed, out in the open and in broad day light; its even worse when the sun goes down. You will most likely get a room in the back that has an old cathode ray T.V and one of those classic window A/c units the size of a mack truck which, if your lucky, will blow out warm stale air that has been filtered through an expired air filter. And if you are one of the more fortunate guests like myself then you may even get upgraded to a room with a used needle hidden somewhere with in your bed sheets.
Stuck in traffic returning from the eclipse, we called Days Inn of I-81, which was full, but they told us this Days Inn had a 2 bed non-smoking room. We were thrilled as it was 3am and we were exhausted. We got to the hotel shortly after, where we waited in line with more than 10 other families for over 30 minutes. At 3AM!!! The 2 people that were "working" at the front desk were not competent. The hotel did not at all feel safe. The lobby was dirty and sketchy. When it was our turn FINALLY to check in they told us they did not have any non-smoking rooms. Based on just the lobby I did not even want to see what a smoking room in this establishment looked or smelled like. We were refunded our money at left at 3:30AM.
