We stayed one night before going on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The location was nice and the trail along the river was nice. Breakfast was ok, just average. But the hotel room was old and dingy, with a low ceiling in the bathroom with cigarette burns on the bathroom sink(in a non-smoking room). But our biggest complaint was that only one light worked in the whole room. When I called the front desk, they said they would try and find someone who could come check it out. They called back later but never did come check the lights in our room. I was happy to check out in the morning.

we stayed there from July 1-3 2 days too long. and the only reason why we stayed that long was because West VA just had a horrible storm and they were without power for a while and all the other hotels were booked. we are avid travelers and this hotel was by far the worst and dirtiest. first impression is the most important and the minute we walked in to the front desk there was garbage all in the front. the rooms dust all over, there was dried up blood on the wall, the bathtub hasn't been scrubbed properly.....OK now lets talk about the pool, granted there was a storm but you can tell that people walking OFF THE STREET regularly USE THIS POOL and speak about it freely, there is even a ring around the pool which is disgusting and who knows when was the last time they swept the pool area let along clean it.

We booked this room after 5 days without power in the sweltering summer. Although the air conditioning was so very welcome, and the hotel lobby was set up beautifully, it was not at all representative of the hotel itself.

The halls and balconies were poorly lit, dirty, with broken tiles and decay very evident. You could see the street below where the balcony walls did not meet the floors and the insulation had decayed and browned.

The "laundry facilities" consisted of a washer and dryer crammed into a small space next to an ice machine - with no lights and sketchy power sources. The "recreational facilities" consisted of 2 tandem bikes - seemingly from the prior century - and a treadmill that was unusable due to the belt being dry-rotted. (Yes, it was that old). There was a strange odor in the lobby hallways and the parking lot was full of holes, chunks of asphalt, and cracks.

The room itself was no better - outside of the conveniences of air and power. The room was billed as a queen size room. The headboard was queen size, the bed itself was a full. The blanket had holes in it and barely fit the bed. There were dark stains on the carpet and the box spring. There was no smoke alarm, and no knob for the "heater" in the bathroom. The toilet was filthy and looked as if the underside of the rim had not been cleaned in ages. The ceiling tiles in the bathroom were cut and did not fit in the drop-down grid properly, leaving dark gaps in the ceiling area. Although there were a microwave and mini-fridge in the room, both were old, scarred, and dirty. There were spill stains/runs on the wall, as if someone had thrown something liquid against it and it had never been cleaned. The lampshades were dirty and torn and the ironing board cover was stained and dirty as well.

It seems as if more attention has been paid to the lobby - to give appearance of beauty and style - than to the rooms, which are much more important to the guests who must reside in them. Again - although it provided a respite from our situation - I would not recommend this hotel in the state that it is currently in.

I would like to address and respond to a few points. As there were massive storms which no one was prepared for, we were unprepared initially but soon got enough staff in to help clean up the dirt & debris that the storms brought with it. If there were any cracked floor tiles I can assure you they have been replaced. I'm not sure what recreational facilities your referring to but if you mean the fitness room then our guests will be happy to learn that the machines inside are new and we have a very scenic Greenway adjacent to the property that runs over 5 miles long and great for a jog. Our on-site laundry machines are coin operated but there is a full service laundromat within 1 block.
I am surprised by the description you give of our guestrooms and would like to invite you to try us again as I don't believe it's a fair representation of the whole hotel.

Initially attracted by the low price and good TA reviews, we soon realized that we got what we paid for. Scary, dirty, old and smelly.
Pluses: Very friendly staff and a river walk very near the hotel that was perfect for traveling with a dog.

Ok first I want to start off saying I got what I paid for. My husband and I stayed for two nights. Frist and for most our room was old they had drop cords running from one outlet running behind our bed for the clock, and light, and the rest of the lights didn't even work. If you ask me that violates a code for running a bussiness like that. Our bed had a cigarrette burn on the sheets, mind you this was a nonsmoking room. The bathroom was ok had stans at bottom of the tub. Need to change shower curtain. Just say a lesson learned we will never stay at this low quality hotel again....

Room Tip: Hotels near the Airport are alot better...

As a UK visitor for the last 20+ years and having stayed at hundreds of hotels/motels in US this is the worst ever!!
I booked assuming the Ramada brand had certain standards,This hotel rooms were dirty smelly filthy and defffinately not the standard I was expecting from the brand (The brand being something you rely on when booking from 3000 miles away)
Front of house reception modern smooth and clean.
Rooms completely different. Balcony on 3rd floor walkway had 6in gaps at bottom.
Door to room had obviously been forced and lock worked now and again.
Carpets in rooms stained and dirty, no bath plugs and smoke smell in no smoking room.
Breakfast ok but being accosted on way back to room and offered illegal substances was the final insult
