“Classy, compact and clean.”
Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

I arrived here on a Sunday afternoon to catch the end of what looked to be a decent St. Patty's Day celebration. Be warned that most of the shops clOse around 5 or 6pm on Sundays. The restaurants are all open though and there are a plethora of good eating options in all price ranges. It's a nice outdoor mall that is well-maintained and perfect for a jaunt if the weather is decent. The selection of stores is very commercial; Victoria's Secret, Ann Taylor, White House... Don't expect budget shopping. Do visit Ben and Jerry's if you've got a sweet tooth :)

“Reston Town Center, nice but mis-named”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

The Town Center is a mixed use development (residential/retail/commercial) located in Reston, VA. The location is about all it shares with the town. The complex draws workers from a considerable distance. Since it is fully self-contained in terms of dining and other services, there really is little or no interaction with the surrounding community.

As an "outdoor mall", the dining and retail options are spectacular. My favorite restaurants are Mon Ami Gabi and McCormick & Schmick's, but I have not tried all of them as yet. The retail stores include all of those you would expect to find in an upscale mall, except the major destination stores like Bloomingdales or Macy's.

Parking is plentiful and free. The complex is easily walkable, and there is a small ice skating rink in front of Panera Bread in season, with its own miniature zamboni. (I've walked by it and watched the skaters, but not used it myself.)

The Center is largely business-oriented during daytime, although you will see residents walking dogs and that sort of thing. Evenings, it turns into a trendy hot spot. You actually can see the transition in the parking garages, as one set goes home and the other set arrives.

“Very Convenient”

Several restaurants/bars within walking distance of the Hyatt Regency, and also a movie theater, and a small ice skating rink.

“Just average”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

Just a amalgamation of shops and restaurants that can be found in any mid- to large-sized city in the country. It's exactly as expected.

Plenty of restaurants and bars all with in walking distance of each other. Something for everyone. Parking is not a problem, free ramps.
