“A slice of paradise.”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

This is a special place. We had a relaxed and idyllic stay with our hosts Lori and Greg at their Inn located on a beautiful inlet of the Chesapeake with glorious sunsets. It was the perfect place for rechargind and resting. Our room, the Captain's Room, overlooked the water and was beautifully furnished and comfortable. They have seen to every detail and the breakfasts were delicious and offered a variety for all. They have picnic baskets available for lunch or dinner with delectable choices. We particularly enjoyed the sunset cruise, well worth the price, with Trey Sowers, the charming owner of Chapel Creek Oyster Co. who told us about the area and the oysters business and if you like oysters they were special and delicious. We enjoyed visiting with the other guests but found plenty of privacy as well. The small town has several restaurants and we had a delicious crab cake and fried oysters at Richardson's Cafe in the old Rexall store, comfortable and relaxed. There are several sites to visit or you can just stay at the Inn and relax.

Room Tip: Each room is charming and loved the Captains Room.

Thanks so much for your generous review of our property, and glad you got to relax and unwind for a few days. So happy you enjoyed the picnic baskets and we are really excited to be working with Trey on the boat cruises. He is a great guy and grows a mean oyster too! You can now find him under Mathews Deadrise Charters.

Thanks again, and we enjoyed meeting you both!

The location of the Inn is idyllic. Tucked in a small inlet off the Chesapeake Bay, it is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. You can enjoy a beautiful sunset from the terrace, or even better, sitting in an Adirondack chair on the dock that juts out into the inlet.
Accommodation was very comfortable. We stayed in the Captain's Room on the upper level. It overlooks the inlet at the front and side and a lovely garden on the right.
Lorie and Greg, the hosts, provided a very welcoming atmosphere, making us feel completely at home.
Breakfast was great with a variety of dishes for all tastes.
We had a great time and thoroughly recommend the Inn for a relaxing stay

Last time we arrived in winter, and loved the coziness and quiet. This time we visited in early June. Glorious weather -- beautiful sunsets -- plenty of folks around to chat with but plenty of space for privacy too. Fabulous food at breakfast and beautiful room. No pretension. We'd come back here over and over!

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building are more likely to carry noise from stairs, doors opening and closing, et...

We have been in Mathews County VA many times and on the occasion of our granddaughters high school graduation, we stayed an the Inn at Tabbs Creek. The accommodations, the owners and the location were all wonderful. Our only regret was that we were so busy with family events that we did not have all the time we wanted to enjoy this beautiful place. Although we have family living in the immediate area, I will be looking for excuses to stay at the Inn again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite, which was perfect for our small group of friends.

Thank you so much for your kind review and it was so nice to see you again! We really enjoy getting people out on the water to see more of the wildlife and history of the bay be it by kayak, SUP board and boat. We especially love to give Stand Up Paddleboard lessons and show people how fun and easy it is...we were hooked after our first lesson 4 years ago. Thanks again, and looking forward to seeing you guys again.
All the Best!

We have just spent a few days at the Inn at Tabbs Creek and we absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Chesapeake suite which was beautifully appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a fantastic Jacuzzi bath in the bedroom. We had a sitting room too and it was immaculate, as was the rest of the place. You get free run of the main house where coffee and tea is always available. They have a great library and TV room which you can use at any time. The owners too are so friendly and very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. We booked for my birthday and my husband had asked them to put flowers and chocolates in our suite and they excelled themselves he was so pleased with what they did. The location is fantastic, you can sit on the dock in the evening sipping wine and just taking in the beautiful scenery. They are boat trips if you can drag yourself away and the use of kayaks and canoes but overall for us it was the peace to be able to completely relax. We loved it and we will return.

Room Tip: I had a peek at all the beautiful rooms but I preferred the one we were in, the Chesapeake suite, la...

The Inn at Tabb's Creek was such a delightful getaway and just what a stressed out couple needed to unwind. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms were immaculate. We stayed in the Tabbs Creek Room and enjoyed the subtle nautical flair of the decor. I peeked into all the rooms at check in and each was decorated beautifully and very clean. We particularly enjoyed fishing and watching the sunset from the adirondack chairs on the dock. We thought it was a great touch that all the rods and tackle you could need were available for guest use. We stopped at the grocery store before arriving and enjoyed a picnic dinner on the lovely screened porch. We were so relaxed, we didn't want to leave for our entire stay! Breakfast was wonderful and filled us up all day. The owners, Greg and Lori, were very hospitable and accommodating without being intrusive to their guests' privacy. We had such a wonderful time and we are sure to be back soon!

Thanks so much for your kind review, and it was great to meet you both as well. We try to provide a laid back and relaxed atmosphere, and are glad that you enjoyed your stay. You will need to come back and do some night fishing as the fish around the underwater fish light have been getting bigger by the day!
