The Inn at Tabb's Creek, secluded off a tree lined lane on the water at Mobjack Bay, was a great weekend break for us in the midst of a long road trip. Dave met us,checked us in and showed us around, His sister Lori popped in with some advice on localrestaurants, and Her husband Greg waved at us from the garden. Rooms are comfortable and fresh, breakfast is delicious, substantial and different each day, and there is kayaking, bicycling, and swimming, or adirondacks by the water for pure relaxation. This is an under appreciated area with lots of local interest and just over a half hour drive to Yorktown and Jamestown. A real gem.

Great get away!Wounderful setting with many small towns close by or cities an hour if you choose.Greg and Lori are very personable, attentive and accomplished.Food was the best yet at any B&B for us-gourmet!Nearby small towns surprised us with their businesses(we bought a large picture and some crocks from local potter) and great restaurants.Very quiet and laid back with stunning sunsets from dock or your room.Gardens, both flower and veg were beautiful and well kept.Entrance to the place is stunning-think Gone With The Wind only change the oaks to cedars. We will be back with friends in fall to kayak, ride bikes, walk and enjoy some great food .

Room Tip: 3 rooms in the house and 3 rooms in the addition 25 yards away.If you are interested in the historic...

My husband and I just have just spent a wonderful two days here with six good friends. What a marvelous place! Greg and Lori are such a sweet couple and do everything possible to make your stay as perfect as it can be. The Inn is located on a beautiful piece of property surrounded by water. The gardens are so pretty and there are lots of places to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and great scenery. It was a little chilly during our stay but on another visit, we would love to be able to spend time on the screened in porch or out by the firepit in the evening. The breakfasts were to die for!!! They were probably the best ones that we've ever had anywhere. The wine and cheese evening spread was great and such a fun time to get to know the other guests. What more can I say--a great getaway!!! We'll definitely be back.

We have just spent the most wonderful weekend at Tabbs Creek. Perfect location on a peaceful back bay of the Chesapeake, beautiful old house, lovely rooms, divine food, spectacular sunsets, bikes, canoes, quiet walks on country lanes, bonfires under the stars, and the best hosts ever! I wish we could spend every weekend there.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights at the Inn at Tabbs Creek and was so sad to see our time come to end. This truly is a little slice of heaven on the east coast and a must see if you need a weekend away to relax.

Rooms: We had the pleasure of actually staying in two rooms during out stay (since we added on an extra day to our original trip). Our first room was the Tabbs Room and it was cozy, comfortable, and well decorated. This room is off the main house with a great view of the pool and the creek. The cork floors (excellent touch) and neutral colors immediately gives you a sense of relaxation and calm. The 2nd two nights we moved into the main house into the Captain Billups Room. This room was our favorite out of the two with a cool blue colors, windows galore (6 in total), a view of the creek and dock and best of all a temperpedic!

Main House/Common Areas: The house is beautifully done and we used the common areas frequently. I spent a few hours just sitting on the big cushy couch reading the book and then would switch to the screened in porch out back or the front patio in a rocker. We preferred to eat our breakfast each morning in the back dining room so we could look out to the water. We also used the dock each day as my boyfriend is an avid fisherman. Although he didn't catch any fish, he enjoyed the time out there and even reeled in a few crabs which was a first for him. Nights were spent at the fire pit, sharing stories and conversation with other guests. We wanted to try SUP and kayaking but it was a bit windy so it just gave us yet another reason to return to this beautiful place. Finally, we enjoyed walks around the property, exploring the area, and bird watching from the backyard.

Breakfast: Only one word here is needed: DELICIOUS! (Thank you Greg!)

Outside Activities/Restaurants: We visited Bethel Beach, The New Point Lighthouse, and MobJack Bay - and loved all 3. Definitely take a trip to Southwinds Cafe and Richardson's both located a quick drive away in Mathews. Both have great food and a charming atmosphere. If you are up for a little drive (~20 mins) head to Gloucester and go to Bangkok Noi, you will not be disappointed. Outstanding Thai cuisine with tons of flavor.

Hosts: Lori and Greg were some of the most gracious hosts I have come across while staying at B&B's. They are warm and welcoming but never intrusive. They have managed to develop the perfect balance. It was great chatting with them over breakfast or the bonfire and hearing their stories about the inn and the area of Port Haywood. The property is gorgeous but it's because of their hospitality that this place is such a gem. Such fantastic people.

Overall, the Inn at Tabbs Creek gets 5 stars all the way around. If you are looking for a serene getaway, then this place is it. We can't wait to return and feel so fortunate to have found this place. Thanks again, Lori and Greg and we hope to see you soon!

Room Tip: There isn't a bad room in this place. We preferred the Captain Billups but I look forward to tr...

Quite relaxing ,The Inn at Tabbs Creek ,offers the beauty of the water and the birds that inhabit the area. It was exciting to watch Osprey fishing or a Great Blue Heron walking in the shallows.
Not only was the natural environment inviting but so was the friendly conversation around the fire pit at night. Greg and Lori provided a bountiful breakfast that included ingredients from the property.
It was a pleasure watching Greg prepare his garden and Lori moving about getting the place ready for new guests. All in all The Inn at Tabbs Creek at the end of a long driveway offers all that one could wish for in a getaway.

Room Tip: West to east all rooms have something to offer. I slept in a king bed and slept better than at home...

This is the kind of place we'd all love to keep secret. Greg and Lori have the very rare ability to be warmly welcoming and attentive and yet never let their beautifully situated and appointed home feel like anything other than your own. The breakfasts are incomparable.
