Me and my 5 lady cousins went to the Dirty Dancing Weekend last weekend. We had a very good time. The cottage was very nice, the food was good and the entertainment was good. However, there are a few things that need to be improved on. I heard many guests saying the same thing. The buffet we had every morning and night was not well stocked. The food often ran out and we had to stand at the buffet and wait on them to replenish the food. When the food came out, there was often just a few pieces of food in it so it ran out after a few people and the waiting started again. We had to ask for food to be brought out. Once they ran out of french toast and had to make pancakes instead. There was only sweet tea. I know that is a staple in the south, but it would have been nice to been able to get unsweet tea. Other than the buffet being unorganized, I would have to recommend that blinds should be placed on the back door of The Newport cottage. There are shutters on all the windows but then only a large glass on the back door. The cottage is very secluded and should be better lit and able to cover all the windows. We couldn't finish the dirty dancing tour due to the bugs were awful. They would form swarms and flyer around your head. Not sure anything can be done about that but it was aggravating. While I enjoyed most of the music, some of it was just not music to dance with. The professional dancers were very good and when you dance with them, they are very pleasant and conversational. We all loved Dennis, David and Layne the best. All in all it was a good time. The lodge is well kept and very pretty and it was fun to see it in the movie, which they showed on Friday night.
