“Bringing back what a vacation should be!”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

My mom and I recently visited for Mother's Day weekend. As many people say, it was quite interesting to see the filming location of Dirty Dancing, but there was so much more to this beautiful place. Looking at pictures throughout the hotel, there is so much history to appreciate. There are beautiful cottages and and a hotel which was built like others aren't today. As with all things, people seem to forget to appreciate a place which was once very lively, yet simple. This is why it's a fantastic place for families and children. In a world of constant stimulation, this lodge provides many things to do, but you get to experience most of it outdoors instead of in front of a television and without the hustle and bustle of a crowded resort. The lake is extremely low, but we enjoyed exploring it and reading about the fluctuation of the lake level. It would be nice to return to a full lake, but it was still a great experience and now there is something to look forward to. Our cottage was the Lake Cottage. It was very cozy with a wraparound porch. The food was fantastic, and the staff made sure everything was exactly as we wanted it. Looking forward to many visits throughout the years! M. Taylor & A. Spencer
