We had a lovely stay at the Ashby Inn, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains and a wood-burning fireplace in the bedroom. Dinner and breakfast at the Inn were splendid, everything beautifully prepared and plated, courteous service, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We especially enjoyed the brioche French toast and scones at breakfast and the salmon and roast beef entrees at dinner. Extra points for Forte tea! (It is so frustrating when otherwise excellent food is accompanied by mediocre tea.)

My husband and I recently enjoyed the Ashby Inn's tasting menu and were thrilled. The service and food are top notch! Not only were the dishes tasty and well-prepared, the ingredients, textures and presentation were fantastic. I am a foodie and not once did I think "I could cook this same/better at home." Highly recommended!

Our first trip to the Ashby Inn. Without a doubt, this was one of our better dining experiences. The menu is apparently adjusted often to take advantage of regional offerings. Each course was superbly presented. The leg of lamb was wonderfully delicate in flavor and consistency. The beef was rich and tender. The soup was exquisite. But what really made the meal stand out were the wine pairings. I was reminded of those commercials where the fuzzy scene becomes clear. When the wine was sipped with the course, voile, the flavors became more significant. Seldom have I been to a place where the pairings were so adroitly done. This is well worth the drive from DC.

Care is taken with food in this restaurant. Flavor pairings are exceptional. Portions are small for the price.

Went for the New Year dinner and wine pairing. The service and food were excellent. Most wines were excellent, the Chateau d' Yquem, Premier Grand Cru Classe, Sauternes, was outstanding. However, I thought the two Virginia wines were disappointing. The setting is a charming old Inn. Worth a visit.
