“WOW! What a gem we found”

Big's Place - The Gaskill Family Restaurant
Cuisines: Seafood
Description: Family owned, created to memorialize their husband, father, and Grandfather, Richard "Big" Gaskill. Daily menus created to utilize fresh local seafood, vegetables and fruit. Posting daily on facebook with pictures of freshly made foods. Posting's of pictures of freshly made desserts for that day makes your stomach flip and off you go to your car to at least get the last piece of the cake or pie that is featured. Wonderful stop for lunch or dinner when you're headed north or south on U.S. Hwy 13 between the Bay Bridge of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel of Virginia.

Ke-Vontay at The Hampton sugguested we come to Big's for dinner am I ever glad that we listened to her. When we arrived we noticed that it's a small place about 10-13 tables, the hostess very friendly, come to find out she is the wife of the chef. We put our name on the list the wait was a bit long (a little over an hour) but very much worth the wait. I ordered build your own plate (4 choices) softshell crabs(2), clam strips(about a cups worth), fried oysters(3), swelling toads(2). Swelling toads=puffer fish = delish!!
my husband had the pulled pork (N. Carolina) dinner with fresh asparagus. My husband rarely says much about dinner but....he could not stop talking about this pulled pork he was eatting, the best, he said the absolute very best pulled pork he has ever eatten. He loved it so much he asked if he could buy about 2lbs of it to take home, and he did and to this day a week later he is still talking and telling everyone he know how great this experience was at Big's. We are now probably going to go back to Exmore, just so we can have more of their yummy pulled pork. Thanks Big's for making 2 out of towners feel like they were at home having dinner with friends. A truely warm and wonderful dinning experience. Hope to see you soon!

You'll know you're in the right place as soon as you walk through the door at Big's. Murals of Shore scenes, as well as local artifacts of Gaskill family history surround you as you take in the always interesting specials board - swelling toads (it's a fish!) and crab toast to name a couple. The pickled beets are not to be overlooked!

A great place for fresh and local seafood. Don't let the outside scare you off. Family operated business work hard trying new menu items. Be sure to try ones of the desserts, they are the family recipes and are all excellent! No alcohol is served though, so no wine with your meal.

OMG who would have thought that such good food lurked behind those doors. This place is great! Check out the specialty board, crab toast, crab soup and sides such as deviled eggs. It doesn't get any better!
