Ke-Vontay at The Hampton sugguested we come to Big's for dinner am I ever glad that we listened to her. When we arrived we noticed that it's a small place about 10-13 tables, the hostess very friendly, come to find out she is the wife of the chef. We put our name on the list the wait was a bit long (a little over an hour) but very much worth the wait. I ordered build your own plate (4 choices) softshell crabs(2), clam strips(about a cups worth), fried oysters(3), swelling toads(2). Swelling toads=puffer fish = delish!!
my husband had the pulled pork (N. Carolina) dinner with fresh asparagus. My husband rarely says much about dinner but....he could not stop talking about this pulled pork he was eatting, the best, he said the absolute very best pulled pork he has ever eatten. He loved it so much he asked if he could buy about 2lbs of it to take home, and he did and to this day a week later he is still talking and telling everyone he know how great this experience was at Big's. We are now probably going to go back to Exmore, just so we can have more of their yummy pulled pork. Thanks Big's for making 2 out of towners feel like they were at home having dinner with friends. A truely warm and wonderful dinning experience. Hope to see you soon!
