I hadn't been sure what to expect so I was delighted to find we had a lovely large room overlooking the pool and the sea. It was just delightful, quiet and peaceful (although a little bit of noise from other guests) and an ideal location to walk up to Waitangi - although it was a bit further to go into Paihia for restaurants etc (there was a free shuttle bus for during the day though). In the evening a couple of rabbits came out and hopped about on the grass in front of our room. We didn't have any meals there - they seemed a bit pricey - or use the pool - too cold for us although others were in there

The room was good and clean. The decor is normal standard for this type of hotel. The TV a bit old, but not important to us. Price wise it compared very well with any of the motels around that area. The breakfast buffet was included and was excellent exceeding our expectation. The whole place was very tranquil throughout our stay. Staff very competent and friendly.

This hotel has superb location right next to Waitangi. Where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in February 1840. The hotel has nice pool and is right on the beach. Rooms are average. Breakfast is cold or warm (full english brekafast) buffet. They serve light lunch menu and ala-carte or warm buffet for a dinner.

We were upgraded on arrival, room had a sea and pool view. The room was warm and comfortable with huge bed. We only had one meal and it was good. Starter of seafood chowder was very large and very tasty. I think it was slightly overpriced. Brekfast on the first morning was buffet style which we thoroughly enjoyed. Thereafter our hot selection had to be ordered from the kitchen.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely return and hopefully would have the same room standard.

Location was good being on the Waitangi Treaty grounds. Unfortunately was attending aconference and combined with the weather raining most of the time, we did not really get to appreciate it.

This property is very dated and despite attempts to modernise it they are still below par especially given this location. TV is old and poor quality, one of the heaters did not work, and hooks behind bathroom door was falling off.

Staff were friendly and helpful, check-in was efficient and reasonably quick. Restaurant was OK. We had room service for breakfats on first morning which was below average, e.g. yoghurt was off. After that went to Waitangi Restaurant for breakfast which was much better.

We stayed at the Copthorne Bay of Islands for 4 nights at the end of a self-drive tour of New Zealand. Alng with our visit to Queenstown, this was the highlight of a marvellous holiday. Our first impressions were "great location but a hotel in need of investment" but the longer we stayed, the more we liked the place. Our check-in was friendly and efficient. Indeed over the period of our stay the hotel staff were extremely helpful and very willing to respond to questions and requests. Our room was comfortable and value for money with a wonderful view over the lawn to the Bay of Islands. The breakfasts were great and we appreciated the free laundry facilities.
With the Waitangi Treaty Grounds literally next door and being only a 10 minute very pleasent walk into Paihai, the hotel is well located and there was so much to see and do.
The hotel is heavily used by coach tours and conferences which is probably why it seems to need refurbishing but amazingly as a couple who appreciate peace and quiet we had no cause to complain and departed wishing that we could have stayed longer.
