We had come over to NZ from the UK to see our favourite band Queens of the Stone Age, and thought we`d turn it into a roadtrip around the gigs, starting with Paihia and this hotel.
There had just been a massive cyclone in the area, and things were looking a bit bedraggled as we drove thru the town and across the little bridge to access it. But on arriving in the car park, it was obvious a lot of work was being done to tidy up.
Altho we were in one of the closest rooms to the sea, it wasn`t quite as close as I was hoping it would be. But it was still a stunning view across the bay, and the sunrise viewing was spectacular. Spotlessly clean, and looked after.
All the staff we encountered were more than helpful and polite, and had a marvellous sense of humour.Breakfast was more than adequate, and was part of our booking deal.
It isn`t right in the heart of Paihia, but it is a very pleasant stroll into town, whilst being far enough out to be able to totally relax in peace.......not that we did, cos there`s just so much to see and do in the area!
Ask the young Brit bloke on reception (Steve?) for trip ideas, he recommended combining a dolphin trip with the sailing yacht, and it was the most fantastic day out.
