It has been many, many years since I had been to Opua and what a pleasant surprise.

We completed the Twin Coast Cycle Trail ending in Opua and had lunch at Marina Bar and Cafe. We sure weren’t dissapointed with the food or the view.

We were a party of 5 who ordered salads, burgers and the chowder. The burgers were quite substantial and all quality ingredients. I had a case of food envy when the burgers arrived.
The chowder was a hit for those who ordered. Plenty of seafood and lovely and creamy.

There is ice cream available which we were going to indulge however none of the flavours appealed - this was just a personal opinion so in the end we didn’t.

We had a lovely table outside with a fabulous view out over the harbour.

Thank you for the positive feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed your time in Opua. Unfortunately, the ice cream fridge was only a summer feature and is due to go back to the supplier this week, hence the limited flavours.

Cycled Kaikohe to Opua and we both had Calamari - one with salad and other with chips. Calamari Salad one of the best I've eaten. Will be back soon. Great to relax and take in the lovely view of the marina while enjoying our food.

This little cafe makes the most amazing food, and it’s coffee is some of the best ive ever tasted.
The two chefs do an extraordinary job of Indian curry and seafood chowder not to mention the range of other food in the cabinet and on its menu to offer. The staff are always friendly and willing to help and some how manage to stay calm and smiling even when the cafe was really busy. It’s a great location and a must visit in the Bay of Islands.

Great place to stop for a cold beverage after the Twin Coast Cycle Trail. The staff were very friendly, and didn't mind that we moved chairs to accomodate our group of 8. Would have loved to try the Seafood Chowder but was too tired to eat.
Very clean and the menu looked interesting. Looking forward to going back again.

Having had a light lunch here now on a couple of occassions we are more than happy to migrate here around lunchtime for something to eat and drink.

Today we enjoyed the toasted Paninis with smoked chicken and brie filling. They were prepared and served very quickly with salad leaf accompanyment and dressing.

We ordered and paid at the service counter and till. Our waitress suggested that she helped me carry the glasses out to our table when I set off with two bottles of cold citrus drinks.

Shortly afterwards she returned with our Paninis, cutlery and napkins.

Reading other’s comments about poor service, limited choice etc., we would say “remember that it is a Cafe not high end restaurant!”. For us, it compares much more favourably than many Cafes that we have frequented recently in the general area.

We do tend to avoid peak time as we don’t like to wait. Today at 12h15 we were able to order promptly, be served quickly and had the choice of a convenient table outside with umberella to shield the sun. As time went by, more and more customers arrived but the Cafe never became noisy or crowded.

We have eaten here twice and will surely return. Recommend to others without hesitation.
