“One of the very best restaurants in Kerikeri, if not the best!”
Reviewed July 18, 2011

The Black Olive does so many things right - it serves very good coffees, espressos, and lattes, beginning at its opening at 4pm, just when all the cafes in town close. It has an excellent wine bar, with lots of selections available by the glass. And the food is very, very good...not just the pizzas, which have gotten a lot of positive comments, but the seafood selections, too! First the pizzas - available in thin crust or regular, gluten or wheat free, traditional or contemporary toppings...everything you could possibly want in a pizza, cooked to perfection. We sampled the Athens, in thin crust form, which had olives, feta and mozzarella cheeses, and anchovies, and it was superb. We also sampled the seafood platter, which is huge, though listed as an appetizer, and the seafood risotto, both delicious, very fresh, and very generously sized. The waitress staff here is friendly, efficient, and knows just when to check on you, and when to leave you alone. This is our new favorite spot in town!

“Great pizza”
Reviewed June 26, 2011

We had a great meal - pizza and local beer, followed by a fantastic Sticky Toffee Pudding. The service was great and everyone was very friendly.

“Fantastic, no frills foods and great service”
Reviewed October 3, 2010

i took my wife to The Black Olive having been there before, i was unsure how she would like it as its kida rustic, certainly not siver service. In short she loved the atmosphere, the staf and the food. the stuffed chicken breast was great, the salad was supurb, the pizza was tasty, almost homemade style.

“Succulent Pizzas, fresh salads”
Reviewed October 14, 2009

We went to this restaurant for a birthday meal. I'm not a great fan of Pizza, as I often find it hard to digest - however - I decided I'd have a Caesar salad (yum) followed by a small Pizza. I'm not sure if they use a scone base (I should have asked them) but the Pizza was really delicious, crispy on the outside, soft in the inside -- but not "slimy". Hard to describe, but people who have had a bad Pizza may know what I'm talking about. The service was very friendly, and efficient. would certainly recommend as a place to dine in Kerikeri.
