What a great way to spend a lunchtime - down by a lake, amongst the vines and sampling the best of the local produce!

The Marsden Winery not only turns out some superb wines, which just have to be tested on a visit, after all how else will you select one to accompany the excellent food.

The restaurant is always full, so reservations are highly recommended. Seating under the spreading vines looking out over the lake and the estate vineyard is superb...what a setting!

Overall, good value, great wine and very good food..enjoy the Bay of Islands!

We arrived at the winery at 11.30am and there were no other people there. We reserved a table for lunch then did a little bit of wine tasting. After choosing a Sav we went down by the lake and sat in the sun to enjoy it. By the time we decided to have lunch the place was full, so pleased we reserved our table.
We were a group of four people and all of us were very impressed with the service that we received. The staff were able to answer all questions we had regarding the food. Speaking of the food, it was great. We all had different types of meals and everybody could not fault what they got. We had an antipasto board for starters which was excellent. Plenty of starters for everyone. We all agreed this was a wonderful place, beautiful setting especially having lunch under the vines, the food and the wine faultless. We can't wait to return. Would strongly recommend this Winery.

We have just returned from a short break in the Bay of Islands. During our stay we had lunch at the Marsden Estate Winery, Keri Keri. We had a table for two on the veranda, the roof of which is covered with vines. The grounds are beautifully kept. Lawns slope down to a small lake and the whole ambiance is very tranquil. We had a mains with wine, followed by an excellent dessert. The service was good with friendly staff. We were not rushed and the whole event took nearly two hours. If you are lucky, you could have one of the two tables placed near the lake. What a location for that romantic or special meal. Well done to everyone concerned in making our visit so delightful.

We were not going to pre book but glad we did to ensure getting an outdoor table. Dappled sunlight through the overhead grape vine and a great view over the pond, gardens and vines.
A mix of family groups , both large and small, plus many couples made up a busy outdoor seated area. A glass of Rose for Jane and a Pinot Gris for me while we perused the menu and blackboard. We had almost settled on the 'snapper fillet on prawn paella with wilted spinach and herbed aoli' off the blackboard when we overheard waitress advising next table "only one serving left". So, the shared plates sub menu looked enticing with five dishes offering tasting for two. We were told two or three would usually be enough but I would not pass on the pork belly and Jane wouldn't give up the prawns so all five it was!!
Delicious food and sauces and it did take us a while to finish all plates. Pork belly was moist and beautifully tender, the shrimps just right and the kebabs spot on. The only 'a little disappointing' dish was the 'Atlantic' scallops which were served with a fabulous sauce but they themselves were rather tasteless almost surumi like. We dipped our crispy fries which we ordered as a side, were not really needed, but with garlic aoli or the scallop sauce went down a treat.
After this veritable feast no room for dessert but we retired to the pond side easy chairs with a second glass of Rose for Jane and a Viognier for me. A bottle of the Rose came away with us.
A truly wonderful experience and we will try for the 'pond deck' table on our return. Wine tasting on to do list as well.

We arrived quite late in the day and we were met with open arms. Actively encouraged to taste wines (and the divine port) which are deliciously quaffable. We ordered two platters as the kitchen was closed (we were very late!) and they were divine. An exceptional first visit for us and our Uk guests. We will make a special effort to return ASAP to sample more of this beautiful place.
