Wharepuke Subtropical Accommodation
Reviewed November 24, 2013

My daughter and I were only in Kerikeri one night. I had eaten at the restaurant which is on the same site as the cottages and thought let's stay in the cottage and have dinner here. The cottage is self contained with a big bathroom, separate bedroom, living, dining kitchen open plan. A deck out the front and surrounded by garden. Other cottages are near but not close enough to bother. We were greeted warmly and everything explained clearly. We were lucky to have good weather. We walked to the restaurant through the tropical canopy and walked back along the lit path. My recommendations would be to have a torch to walk back from the restaurant and they have umbrella in the cottage in case it was raining, but maybe have a spare one. Most pleasant stay.

We checked in 7 nights in Cottage 4. It's very homey, spacious, sunny deck, peaceful, cosy, warm, free fast internet, and surrounded by beautiful sub-tropical garden. We waked up every morning to the sound of the song birds, chickens come to visit us on our sunny desk, and family of quails running around the yard in the evening. The cottage has fully equipped kitchen, beautiful deco, comfortable bed, and very clean. The Tania and Mark are very friendly and helpful managers. The location is walking distance to grocery store, coffee shops, on-site art gallery, stone house, and hiking trail to the waterfalls. We find it hard to leave this magical place we call home away from home. We highly recommended this place.

Room Tip: You can feed the chickens and quails.

The old age honeymooners were back for the weekend. And there was 'our' Tania helping to carry our bags and settle us in. This place is magic. The hospitality of the hosts is warm and welcoming. Everything was perfect from the comfy bed, to the hot shower, fluffy towels, good coffee, peace, quiet and tranquillity. Tania had even put the heater on for us on a cold July night. You don't get that in a big motel. Thanks for making our stay fantastic and we are still telling everyone about Wharepuke Subtropical Accommodation and 'our' Tania.

We were pleasantly surprised with this very comfortable accomodation. The cottage had a great terrasse with a view to a nice garden. Also the walks around the gardens are beautiful landscaped.
It is very handy to their own great restaurant, mostly Thai food. One falls out of the cottage into the restaurant without moving the car.
It is good for sightseeing around the Stone Cottage area. And to Kerikeri just a short drive away. Peaceful surroundings and great hosts.

Room Tip: Cottage in the gardens

Nice place to stay, comfortable units which are very well equipped and good beds. Lovely setting right in amongst the greenery. Well positioned, one way a short hop to the town centre, the other down to the inlet and stone house, both walkable with a buggy. Our little one enjoyed the gardens and feeding the friendly chickens. Ate from the adjacent cafe, very nice food, priced accordingly.
Will return.

Ate at 'our' Food at Wharepuke last night. Decided to stay at the subtropical accomodation. Last day/night of our honeymoon. He actually proposed in the garden in Nov 2012, so Wharepuke is definately 'our place'. Anyway, fabulous food, as usual, havent stayed at the accomodation before but wanting to sample a glass of wine for a change with our meal so we booked in. Tania who looks after the guests was FANTASTIC. We had a slight problem. Tania fixed it- immediately and to our satisfaction. Serene, beautiful surroundings. Super clean, well stocked pots/pans/bedding. Enormous comfy bed. Super friendly welcome which is so appreciated. We are highly recommending to everyone as our new home away from home. The place is fantastic. The customer service and care is even better. Thank you Tania, Robin and team-we will be back.
