We stumbled across the cafe after traveling from Whangarei. The small restaurant is located in a mall in the centre of town. On a Monday evening, there was only one other couple there, which provided a fantastic atmosphere for a nice intimate dinner.
We had two lamb dishes which were served with a mint yoghurt, rice and hummus. The dishes themselves were tasty and of a very reasonable size.
Warm and cosy on a cold winters night.

I ordered the lamb and I got a big pile of small pieces of meat that were pretty chewy, rice that was dry, and two sauces, one with a strong mint flavor and some hummus that was sour tasting. My husband enjoyed the chicken liver and was satisfied, but not impressed with his meal. The chocolate cake serving was enough for two people or more-- 2 pieces of cake and 2 scoops of ice cream and we enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and hard working in a very small kitchen.

As the others have said the food here was really good. In fact, one of our party of 6 insisted that it was better than any food he ate in Israel. We went for the mezze platter option and had more than enough food, and although the choc cake that 2 people shared looked (and tasted apparently) amazing, the rest of us were glad we'd gone for other options including turkish delight and a sesame seed slice that I can't remember the name of. The only disadvantage for us was being outside because all the inside tables were packed, which was very cold, though the food and good times soon warmed us up.

This place is amazing! The food is absolutely delicious, and the outdoor courtyard seating is relaxed and enticing. We shared the mezze platter, which gave us an incredible variety of things to share- perfect falafel, spicy veggie patties with kumara, spiced lamb and chicken, with tabouleh, hummous, warm pita, cabbage, and several sauces for dipping. The portions were very generous and attractively presented. An amazing variety of things to come out of a very tiny kitchen! Also a very nice wine list, the Marsden Estates Pinot Gris was a tasty match.
Can't wait to go back!!!!
