Situated just to the north of Greytown CBD this pub has had a make over a couple of years ago. Previously know as the Top Pub it is now owned by Masterton trust lands and has had a make over with a great dining room. The food is consistently good. So if you want a warm welcome and fancy a change from the usual Greytown offering go a couple if hundred meters north and enjoy this for your evening meal.

Last night my partner and I had a lovely meal at the Greytown Hotel. The food is typical pub food with quality ingedients. The service was very friendly and prompt and we enjoyed our meals of a beef burger and fish and chips. The mains are between $20 and $25. If you are after a nice pub meal, I would definitely recommend the Greytown Hotel.

We booked the two bedroom room and three bedroom room for a weekend away for friends wedding. The trip was booked months in advance. We were concerned with not having paid deposit and emailed to ensure we were booked. The reply said not to worry. When we arrived, the manager informed us that there was no three people room as advertised as that was occupied by her son. We were told the website had not been correct for 18 months. We had an abrupt response, and the manager was in no means apologetic. The rooms shown to us were tiny and we could not have squeezed in another person. We were so put out by the response that we decided to go stay elsewhere. We were told we had not confirmed the booking as we had not phoned them to check. It did not state this on the out of date website. The latest issue now is we have had our credit card debited and are trying to get money back. Very bad service and would not recommend.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Greytown Hotel whilst passing through and needed a place to stay. I think we had the last room left, whih was tiny! This was explained to us beforehand though and we looked at the room before we decided whether to take it. The downstairs of the hotel had just been refurbished with the upstairs still needed to be done but the rooms were clean and the bed was perfectly comfortable. The biggest downside was so hot the room was, we were at the back of the hotel and there was no breeze coming through the window! Unfortunately it was also noisy, you are in close proximity to all the other rooms. But apart from that, it was perfect for our needs.

My wife and I stayed two nights to visit the Wairarapa. We chose this hotel for its location, excellent web site and the price of the double room. Only $80 NZ. This hotel has been refurbished downstairs where there is a bar, a restaurant, and a function centre, all sparkling new. The manager Cindy and staff in the bar were super friendly, as were the locals, especially Phil the Pom, and the restaurant where we ate both nights, the meals from Ian the chef, were superb.
Our double room, upstairs opened up onto the verandah, and we spent an hour or so watching the world go by. Ask for room 2 or 3 if wanting to stay.
The upstairs have not yet been refurbished, and this is clearly needed. None of the 4 or 5 rooms had en suites, but this was to be expected. The bed was comfortable, the tv had sky so I could watch the ashes cricket.
The two downsides were the state of cleanliness of the bathroom, and we discussed this with the manager, and this problem will have now been sorted, and the creaky floorboards to go to the toilet, that will not be solved.
All in all a very enjoyable stay with friendly people, and would stay again if we visited again.
Greytown has turned itself into a switched on town with a main street that is up with the best in any country town in NZ.
