Amazing staff! So friendly and helpful and worked together really well. We didn't feel ignored or unimportant and we felt really well looked after. Food was delicious and well presented.

We had visited Martinborough for a weekend getaway and dropped into this iconic venue. We were really disappointed with the selection of drinks, menu and in particular the service. We didn;t find it warm and welcoming at all, and while we were only looking for bar food what we got was quite flavourless. There was a Super15 rugby game on with the local team playing so it did fill up and have some atmosphere, otherwise it would have been a 1 star. When you compare with the Gladestone Inn the next day this was a disappointment.

We have stayed in the hotel previously and found that maybe a bit better than average, but all in all, you don't get the service you'd expect from a venue that is at the more expensive end..

We have eaten in many fine restaurants, and this probably tops the list. We visited in a Sunday evening with our 12 year old daughter and elderly mother yet the menu and service meet all our requirements. Would highly recommend the miso flavoured fish dish, but a close second was both the lamb and steak dishes. Knickerbocker glory dessert was fab but nothing out-does an affagato with frangelico ......my only suggestion is to find a local hokey-pokey ice cream which would make it to die for!!!!

It was a busy holiday weekend and we didn't have a booking we just walked in and were greeted with a friendly smile and immediately seated. The menu was acceptable, the food good, and the service excellent.
