We stayed 2 nights in mid June 2013 aware that there were 'renovations that wouldn't affect our stay'. We had booked an ocean view room that implied there was a direct view of the ocean complete with photos of such. The deal was a better room for a reduced price as it was for 2 nights and for a reopening special. The first room we were given was above a busy highway on a high floor (very noisy) with a side tiny partial view of the ocean. We had to deal with two people at the desk before the duty manager came to the room to sort it out. After being adamantly told there were NO rooms available unless we paid another 150 for the 2 nights, suddenly a room miraculously appeared free. This time on the opposite side of the hotel and with better ocean views though not the full ones of the photos. We took this room in desperation as all this followed a long flight and a long drive through heavy traffic in an unfamiliar city. I asked about the photos and was told they were for promotional purposes and were never accurate! Be warned! Unfortunately the wifi didn't work properly, and nor did the TV provide the stations we wanted. As far as other aspects are concerned, the hotel is being refurbished but be aware the front and some of the interior is an absolute disaster area. We were told it was running behind time and it would be the end of the year before it was finished. The breakfasts are varied but standard hotel buffet fare. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was surprisingly good.
We wouldn't go for a hotel offering special deals because of renovations or as opening specials again. On the bright side the parking, when we eventually found it, was directly under the hotel with a lift straight up to the lobby, the concierge was very helpful with maps etc, and the beach is a few minutes away.

Room Tip: Get a room on the sunny side - one side of the hotel is completely shaded. Don't compromise on t...

Whilst the renovations are still a work in progress, the floor we stayed on was great. We had access to the pre dinner drinks on the top floor as well as breakfast with heaps of variety :) The room was a decent size with balcony. Dinner at the restaurant downstairs was great, would definitely go back for a meal and to see the hotel in all its glory when the work is complete.

Great staff on the front counter. The staff member at the breakfast desk was very professional and helpful. Rooms were nice and clean and the makeover has been a good thing for the hotel. The newly desined bar area a nice place to relax before dinner. It was time for a change in furnishings etc and they have done a great job.

Room Tip: A great inexpensive night away.

We stayed for 5 nights as part of my recovery from surgery before returning home to the country. We really only wanted a place that we could relax and chill in, and it was very good for that.

The room was on the 16th floor, overlooking the pool deck & north/west over the ocean. The view really was sensational, and the sunset, well need I say more? The perfect place to watch the sun set over the ocean.

Our room was refurbished, and was very clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable, despite being a "zip up" and was a large king size, with bedside lamps for both people. There was a desk, a small table with 2 chairs and mini fridge and TV, large double sliding wardrobe and a safe.

The bathroom, was more than adequate, with a large shower (no bath) and the water pressure was strong and the temperature hot.

There is also a mini bar, which we simply removed and put back the day we left as we did not want to use it.

We used room service every day, and enjoyed a couple of cocktails and various meals off the menu, none of which we could fault. The stand out was the Breakfast Tower, which was just fantastic. The trolley that converted to a table was a brilliant idea! Room service was always prompt and hot.

The rooms were serviced daily, and all the housekeeping staff were polite and friendly, as were the staff we encountered at concierge and Reception.

The in-room wifi was FREE for 3 hours at a time- FANTASTIC!

I do wish hotel rooms would provide a DVD player though !!

OK, there were a few things that stop me from making a rating of excellent:

There is NO outdoor furniture on the balcony. No table, no chairs. Why? We were told it had to do with Occupational Health and Safety, but we think we were being fed a well rehearsed line, and not necessarily the truth. Hmmm- what a shame having the lovely views and sunsets and unless you dragged out the heavy room chairs onto your balcony you could only stand. This was definitely bizarre and disappointing. We have stayed there in the past and there was outdoor furniture. The road noise of West Coast Highway is also quite loud, but again, when you closed the doors, you couldn't hear it.

There were renovations going on, which while they didn't bother us especially they were very noisy below our room, which was alot better with the door to the balcony closed. Reception was a real mess, and I nearly tripped up numerous times on haphazard bits of carpet and unlevel floors coming out of the elevator and in the lobby. Hopefully this will be over soon.

The language barrier was a bit much at times and one room service person over the phone barely spoke it at all, which was very frustrating.

Our room telephone did not work for the first 24 hours, and our television was doing all sorts of strange things reception wise. After 2 days we contacted Reception and it was fixed. They had changed over to digital TV, but had not tuned our TV in. Apparently, most of the TV's in the hotel were the same we were told, maybe a simple explanation at check in to phone if your TV wasn't tuned, or a note on arrival to contact them to tune it would have been better than nothing at all?

Most of these things we know are temporary, but still did make an impact on our stay.

The location of this hotel was not an issue for us, but may be for travellers without a car as it is not near Perth CBD.

Parking was $10 a day, self park, in the underground car park. $20 a day if you wish to use Valet parking.

We certainly would recommend this hotel if you don't want to stay in the City. The room rate was reasonable for expensive Perth, and once the renovations are finished and the little things tweaked, it would be even better. Just please, put a chair or two on the balcony!

Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for 2 nights on business and it was better than I expected as I'd had ordinary feedback on the location and hotel from business colleagues. Yes the hotel is still completing a full overhaul but it really didn't impact me at all. The room I got had a fabulous view down the coast and the room itself was very good; good size, very clean, nice bathroom and comfortable. Only issues were the TV which only got 1 station and a strange motion sensing light system that turns off all the lights if there is no movement for about 30 mins...so reading in bed fits the bill...and the only way I could get the lights on again was to open the room door...a pain. I used the gym and it was fine. I also used the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner and it was good both times...nice range of beers in the bar too. Car park is impacted by the renovation and is not intuitive...but you can work it out. Staff were good. This was not my ideal location but the drive down the coast to Fremantle is a nice way to start the day.

We were disappointed that the work was still ongoing and the receptionist had trouble finding our booking. We arrived very early in the morning 1am and were very tired. The first room we had was very lacklustre. The next day we complained and were moved to a nicer room that overlooked the pool. On the whole the room was clean and newly decorated and I'm sure once the renevation works are complete it will be much improved. It was also disappointing that the pool area was partially closed.
Tip:The north rooms have a better view

What a pleasant surprise to stay ta the Rendezvous Hotel. Place is still under going a complete face lift.
.so what if its not finished these things take time. It will be a lovely place once its all finished, but we looked beyond all the works going on , found our way to reception and then made our way to our room, which is beautifully furnished , the room is clean and the view is magnificent
.It is very hard to keep glass spotless all the time, due to the weather and being so close to the ocean. Perhaps people should take the whole experience in at the Rendezvous Hotel for what it is, a place to put your head down, somewhere rest, plenty of places to eat out around in Scarborough.
Just had the most beautiful breakfast, a very fine selection of food, well presented and a very pleasant lady that delivered it to our room. Stayed in Scarborough many times over the years, first time here and it was a pleasant surprise, shall be telling family and friends about our great find.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra and get a room over looking the ocean...
