The Cottesloe Beach Hotel

We stayed for one night at $140 including breakfast. Location is tops. Service was ok. Room was clean, bathroom clean, air con worked. The bed was comfy. The rooms are old but ok, I did not notice anything like the previous posts negative experience. It will get noisy as the pub is VERY busy on the weekends. If you want class, stay at the Esplanade or Trade winds in Fremantle, you pay more but more upmarket. The Cott is like a country town Hotel, cosy, with a view to die for. We needed accomodation near a wedding that we attended, and the hotel was perfect for our needs. The breakfast was great!

We had a stopover at the Cottesloe Beach Hotel for one night. I'd booked it in advance based on the reviews I'd read. What a mistake!!! I agree the location is excellent and the local facilities including the railway station are great but the hotel itself should be condemned. As we walked up the sweeping staircase to our room I was full of dread the carpet was absolutely filthy covered with chewing gum and shiny with dirt. Our room wasn't much better. The carpet was cleaner and the view from the balcony was fabulous but the room was a disgrace especially considering how much they charge per room for the night. The bed sheets were clean albeit the blanket was covered in stains, the cover was very washed out and faded. The bathroom although clean (I'm sure the cleaning staff do their best) it is very old and shabby. The blind was broken and the street lamp shone through all night. The airconditioning unit was falling off the wall and very noise, the curtains were dirty and torn. It is an absolute disgrace and if it wasn't for the time of night we arrived and the lack of other local accommodation I would have turned right round! With hindsight I would have preferred to sleep in our car.

This is absolutely the worst accommodation I have ever encountered anywhere on our travels ever. The interesting this is that no-one, not the bar maid who showed us to our room, not the manager who checked us out, the waitress in the restaurant, no-one asked us if our room was OK, or whether we'd had a good stay or anything. They probably knew what the answer would be!!!

We stayed at the 'Cot' for 3 nights in May 2008. It is not really a hotel but more like rooms above a pub. The rooms are fairly basic and tired looking but they are clean and the sea views from the balcony were superb. (See pics)
It is in an excellent location overlooking the beach and in a lovely area. The Perth railway is only a short walk away and from there it is 20 minutes into downtown Perth. We had a FAB time there. The staff on reception and those employed to clean the rooms were very helpfull and friendly.
We really enjoyed our stay there and I would highly recommend it providing that you are not expecting a hotel and the luxury that goes with it.

We had read about Cottesloe, a city neach near Perth, and decided we would stay there after a few weeks touring around Australia. It is only 20 minutes by train from Perth. It is very much a beach location, and the hotel is across the road from the main beach. The hotel has had some refurbishment but looks a little tired from the outside and in the reception. The bedrooms were a little old fashioned, but the reception staff were helpful and friendly, the room spacious and having asked for a seaview we had just that - a wonderful 90 degree wrap around balcony with great views of the beach. Breakfast ie toast, condiments, cereal and tea/coffee is supplied in the room. The staff warned in advance it might be noisy but it wasn't although apparently it is most lively on a Sunday which we missed. There is a live music some nights, a bar and restaurant, and there are several cafes and restautants right by it. A popular beach with plenty going on altogether recommedn as a place to stay.
